The first time I actually went anywhere outside the Benelux, was in 1985, when I went on a two-week holiday to London with my friend Martine. I enjoyed it very much, and was instantly hooked. Notice: I started a separate photo site here: Focus Meus. My first camera was a simple little thing, which gave half-sized negatives. I was about 12 years old, and took pictures of my brothers and sister, and anything I thought was worth a picture. My mother saw how much I liked it, and gave me an old Praktica mirror-reflex. I experimented with the macro rings and tele lens, and was hooked. I actually still use a Praktica. So most pictures dated April 2004 and after, are taken with this really nice camera.

Born on a Friday in the Spring of 1966, I was the first child of a dutch couple. They named me Elizabeth, after my grandmother, but called me Els, which is an abbreviation of that name. I grew up the eldest of four, in Rotterdam, Holland, and as far as I remember, had a happy childhood. I started my first travel. In 1991, spending a whole summer in London. This waterfall was pretty high (and a good calve excercise to get there), but the viewpoint wasn’t very good for me. The thing is, that my tripod is not a really high one, and they put a safety fence there that was too high for my tripod. So the only way to take photos was balancing the camera on the fence or other sturdy items. The bottom part of it to see it larger (on click).
