Community Ecology Research Oxford. Mechanisms maintaining and structuring plant diversity. Patterns and processes in ecological networks. Human impacts on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. Socio-ecological resilience to global challenges. Human impacts on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. We have been exploring how riparian reserves (areas of natural vegetation along streams and rivers) within oil pam plantations can boost the diversity of plantations which otherwise are biodiversity deserts.

Aberdeen University Doors Open Day 2016. Workshop – Developing a research agenda to enhance the environmental sustainability of oil palm. Quite possibly the tallest tree in the Tropics. BALI girdling campaign continues. Anthropogenic disturbance and land-use change in the tropics is leading to irrevocable changes in biodiversity and substantial shifts in ecosystem biogeochemistry, altering key processes such as net primary productivity (NPP) ecosystem respiration, N cycling, fluxes of N-gases, CH.
