Running Away: March 2012
http://danslay.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Running from life's problems into new challenges. Thursday, 15 March 2012. A night never to forget. The events of the 6th of November 2007. Will always live strong in my mind. For me, it was the single-most event in my Fire Service career that has shaped my future. Four years later I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. What caused the trigger? That I will never know, but too live the incident again, and live it vividly was not a nice experience. A successful bout of EMDR. Not even having e...
Running Away: February 2012
http://danslay.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Running from life's problems into new challenges. Saturday, 4 February 2012. Well I thought I would brave the barren world that is Dartmoor for a long training run. With the incoming snow imminently due, I set off from Tavistock with a planned route through the moors to Dousland and up to Princetown (home of Dartmoor Prison) then back to Tavistock. The early parts of the run were very comfortable, light snow and cold but moving well and not too many taxing hills. I can see why they put the prison here, a...
Running Away: January 2012
http://danslay.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Running from life's problems into new challenges. Friday, 13 January 2012. Intensity Grows - Insanity Stays! Well as the challenge gets nearer as the training intensity increases. This weeks runs to date are;. Sunday - 12.5 miles. Tuesday - 10 miles. Wednesday - 11.5 miles. Thursday - 4.5 miles. Just short of 40 hard miles, and I have to say the runs have been some of the easiest, but the pain the next day is uncomfortable! The key to these are all in the mind, and my mind is shot! Monday, 9 January 2012.

Running from life's problems into new challenges. Thursday, 5 April 2012. There are many people that have inspired me over the last few years, mainly due to their courage or achievements. Running Away: My First, But Not Last, Ultra
http://danslay.blogspot.com/2012/03/my-first-but-not-last-ultra.html
Running from life's problems into new challenges. Friday, 2 March 2012. My First, But Not Last, Ultra. On Sunday the 19th of February I embarked on my first ever Ultra Marathon. The Tribesports. London Ultra, organised by Rory Coleman and Jen Salter at Ultrarace. Not even having ever run a 'proper' marathon before, only in training on my own, I approached this run with a sense of trepidation. Me in the middle. As the pack started to expand out we gathered into a nice pace, if not a little fast for a pers...

Running from life's problems into new challenges. Saturday, 31 December 2011. The end of the year! Firstly I hope you all have a lovely night! Tomorrow morning I will start 2012 where I started 2011, putting in the miles. Just not in the same beautiful scenery, but Plymouth isn't too bad. Will I do anymore after May, watch this space! I have more events planned some shorter, some dual discipline and some more sedentary. Many thanks and see you all in 2012. Friday, 30 December 2011. My first run, in the C...

London to Black Sea by Bike
London to Black Sea by Bike. Phil and Luke blog of their 3 week unsupported bike trip from London, England to Constanta, Romania on the Black Sea coast. Sunday, 9 May 2010. Writing this sat in an internet cafe in downtown Budapest. When we got in yesterday evening, tired hungry and getting pretty sick of cycling we sat down and over a couple of beers had a good look at the route ahead and formed a plan for the next week. An afternoon train to Sibiu, and then take it to the mountains for three days. I'll ...
