Sunday, July 13, 2014. ZOOMA Napa Valley Race Recap. Back in January, I was honored to have been selected as an ambassador for the ZOOMA Napa Valley. Half marathon. I was not only going to run in my own backyard, but I was given a free entry (and received so many sweet goodies from the race sponsors: Altra shoes. And a shopping trip at Athleta. Race weekend started Friday with a small expo at the Napa Marriott where we picked up our race packets (a cute t-shirt, hat, and Feetures socks - great swag!

Friday, January 24, 2014. 2014 Resolution Redux: Stretch and Strengthen. A yogi in Guatemala. Yesterday, the frustration finally pushed me over the edge, and I did three things:. 1) I made a long overdue hair appointment. 2) I took a gentle yoga class. 3) I made a massage appointment. At the same time, serendipitously, a friend posted to Facebook a Beginner's Guide to Trigger Point Release. So, the hair appointment is obviously not related to my poor body, but when you're feeling down. 2 Go to yoga.

Monday, February 24, 2014. The happy blues (sky, water, herons). While volunteering is fun and inspiring, I so wanted to cross the finish line myself this year. But, I need to remember to put this into perspective. I am not in chronic pain. I am not on crutches or in a wheelchair. I am not sick and in need of invasive, debilitating medication. I am able to walk, jump, sit, stretch, plank, even jog a couple hundred yards. I will likely be able to run again in just a few weeks. Friday, February 21, 2014.

Tuesday, May 13, 2014. TSFM Training Week 6, SRM Week 1. This post is a little late, but it's an important one. I'm officially training to qualify for Boston! My plan called for 4 miles easy (8:48 pace), but I decided rest from The Golden Gate Relay was more important. I ran my heart out at the Relay ( and ran my first sub-8 minute pace. And my body crashed - I couldn't sleep, my calves tightened up, I felt depressed, and my immune system felt defenseless. Rest was what I needed. Rocking my TSFM gear!
