http://thehenncoop.blogspot.com/2011/05/fin-invitations.html
I had the pleasure of designing the invitations for. The Future is Now. Exhibition put on by Helicity. Don't worry if you did not receive one - it is open to the public, so please come! It should be tons of fun. I still have to finish up a couple submissions for it. I especially had fun illustrating the Brew Pub and the water tower. June 9, 2011 at 5:00 PM. I think that is the coolest invitation map Ive ever seen.Remind me to have a party so that you can design the invitation! October 8, 2011 at 7:38 AM.

Capital City Free Press: David L. Hudson Jr.: Government surveillance threatens First Amendment freedoms
http://capcityfreepress.blogspot.com/2015/05/david-l-hudson-jr-government.html
Thursday, May 14, 2015. David L. Hudson Jr.: Government surveillance threatens First Amendment freedoms. Mass governmental surveillance impacts First Amendment freedoms in profound ways, chilling speech and even thought. We tend to think of such surveillance under the rubric of the Fourth Amendment, which prohibits the government from engaging in “unreasonable searches and seizures.” But, surveillance also negatively impacts freedom of speech, assembly, association – and even thought. Alleging that the N...

Capital City Free Press: Hank Sanders: Senate Sketches #1455: An open letter to Governor Robert Bentley on Medicaid expansion
http://capcityfreepress.blogspot.com/2015/05/hank-sanders-senate-sketches-1455-open.html
Friday, May 1, 2015. Hank Sanders: Senate Sketches #1455: An open letter to Governor Robert Bentley on Medicaid expansion. I write this as an open letter because the people of Alabama have a critical stake in your decision. I want Alabamians to fully understand what is at stake, so I am sharing this letter with them as I share it with you. I pray that lives be saved, that pain and suffering be reduced, that peace of mind be increased, that more and better jobs are provided, and that our community institu...

Capital City Free Press: Steve Flowers: Inside the Statehouse: Will the legislative session go to extra innings?
http://capcityfreepress.blogspot.com/2015/05/steve-flowers-inside-statehouse-will.html
Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Steve Flowers: Inside the Statehouse: Will the legislative session go to extra innings? Unless you've been living under a rock for the past six months, you know that the Alabama General Fund has a shortfall and Gov. Robert Bentley has proposed a $540 million tax increase solution to resolve the problem. Dr Bentley took over this ship. It was like walking onto the deck of the Titanic. Riley left the cupboard bare, and the federal stimulus money was gone. Somehow Bentle...These leg...

thehenncoop: New Orleans Days 1 & 2
http://thehenncoop.blogspot.com/2011/06/new-orleans-days-1-2.html
New Orleans Days 1 and 2. Nick and I are celebrating our anniversary in New Orleans, and we are having a great time! Here's a little recap of what we've done so far:. Day 1 was travel day - we rode for our first time a real passenger train from the humble Amtrak stop in Birmingham to New Orleans! It was so quaint and quiet as compared to Cafe du Monde that had a line down the street to even get in. For dinner we ate at a cafe in Jackson Square and sampled gumbo, red beans and rice, and jambalaya!

thehenncoop: FiN Submissions
http://thehenncoop.blogspot.com/2011/06/fin-submissions.html
These were my submissions for the Future is Now. This first one is a proposal for an "incremental" urban park the City has been talking about. Replacing a parking lot with a public park is a great idea, but the images the Development Department had put out were uninspiring and unresponsive to the human needs for which the park should provide - like shade and seating. Click the image below to see the actual proposal with diagrams and explanations. Personalized Sketches and Sentiments. I love to see the de...
