'62 Falcon Ranchero (sold): In the beginning
http://dropbarsranchero.blogspot.com/2010/10/in-beginning.html
62 Falcon Ranchero (sold). Tuesday, October 26, 2010. This is where she started. Good old Craigslist. These are the original pics from the ad that I responded to. She ran, but not happily. That little white can on top of the engine is the gas tank. And this is the plan. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). This all started with a clutch job. Rebuilt trans, and then again not. Interior. as such. Working full time as a modelmaker and dad I don't have much time left over, but what I do have goes into my bikes.

Dropbars Bikeworks: More is more
http://dropbarscinder.blogspot.com/2014/06/more-is-more.html
Thursday, June 5, 2014. At Barber I was able to pick up a little Lucas (I think) headlight for Squid. Until now, I've not managed to put it on the bike though, It's one of those last steps that's easy to put off. We've been running a lot of 4 axis parts in the shop lately so I took a few lunch hours to finish up this project. It turned out to be a full 4 sided part, they ran just under an hour a piece with a big fat 3/4 cutter. This is the whole batch. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

'62 Falcon Ranchero (sold): Tighty Whities
http://dropbarsranchero.blogspot.com/2010/10/tighty-whities.html
62 Falcon Ranchero (sold). Tuesday, October 26, 2010. The wheels just don't look right, and it's a pain these days to find tires to fit 13" wheels, so I sourced a set of Mustang wheels from a buddy of mine, stripped them down and gave them a fresh coat of black POR15, and wrapped them up with some skinny whites (tighty whities). Big box o' goodies. And a little character. This was the first time that I had ever expirimented with striping, between then and now there have been a good number of revisions.

'62 Falcon Ranchero (sold): This all started with a clutch job
http://dropbarsranchero.blogspot.com/2010/10/this-all-started-with-clutch-job.html
62 Falcon Ranchero (sold). Tuesday, October 26, 2010. This all started with a clutch job. With the trans out I remembered that the clutch had been slipping in a bad way when I drove the thing last and so decided to get that job behind me. Being that I was tired of lying on my back I decided to go ahead and pull the motor. and then things got out of hand. Started to grind off all the clutter. Replace the freeze plugs. And go ahead and smooth and shoot it. More grinder pushing and POR15. A dab of Powder.

Dropbars Bikeworks: Barber, the sequel
http://dropbarscinder.blogspot.com/2013/10/barber-sequel.html
Thursday, October 31, 2013. Barber, the sequel. By the time we got all the way to Alabama, Squid had still managed not to fix itself. I spent a lot of my weekend like this. But not all of it. While I had broken my bike, Kate had broken herself, so I rode here bike. And she, didn't. Patrick spent most of the weekend making his son Zeke into a celebrity. While Junior did what Junior does. Matt raced the van. Not sure who won, but I'm pretty sure the van didn't know it was racing. Zernan Jay La Rosa. View m...

Dropbars Bikeworks: Noob
http://dropbarscinder.blogspot.com/2014/07/noob.html
Friday, July 11, 2014. The short list reads something like this: Regulator might be bad, rear tire will not hold air (for more than a few days) wheels have been chromed, lots of random missing hardware and clips, it's got some weird aftermarket kill switch mounted, spikes on the fairings and handle bars, and the whole thing has been Rhino lined. But I'll be fixing all of that, and it comes with a clear title. It's all up hill from here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 62 Falcon Ranchero $3500.

Dropbars Bikeworks: June 2011
http://dropbarscinder.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 23, 2011. Check out my ABS. Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene that is. I love this stuff, if it wasn't so bloody heavy I'd make my next bike out of it. I work with ABS all day long most days, typically I'm making it into a handheld, or TV, or toy robot or something, a motorcycle fairing is nothing! I got stuck at work tonight babysitting a mill, so I took a little time to work on the FZ600 upper. I've already done some work to it, primarily stripping a lot of paint, and filling holes. Attach...

Dropbars Bikeworks: Breakdown
http://dropbarscinder.blogspot.com/2014/07/breakdown.html
Wednesday, July 23, 2014. She looks pretty good naked. Progress moved quickly on the Rhino removal at first. I spent about two weeks working up at least 30 different designs, and I think I've settled on the very first one that I did. I still really like this one though. The honeycomb might end up incorporated somehow into the final design. I found a ton of Bondo on the thing. In areas even that had no detectable damage. Slather it on nice and thick! Without all that junk, the panels are noticeably lighter.
