A Life Unordinary: Mental
http://alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2010/11/mental.html
People like to talk about the weather when they live in climates where it isn't predictably sunny 360 days out of the year, people like to complain about government and people like to moan about the health care system in their country. The only country I have found exception with on this is Australia. There really isn't a one size fits all approach to health care. It is intrinsically a very very personal thing and I think it's rare that everyone will be happy with any one approach. Posted by Girl Friday.

A Life Unordinary: 30 Seconds
http://alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2010/11/30-seconds.html
Also known as approximately the amount of time I have to myself at the moment if you don't count time on the train, in the shower or sleeping. The good news is I have worked my notice period at previously mentioned former employer. Indicated hers were signed, sealed and all but delivered. So much for being ahead of anything any more. And with that, my 30 seconds is up, so I shall carry on my inane ramblings at a later date. Tootaloo. Posted by Girl Friday. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Life Unordinary: October 2010
http://alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Men and Women, Girls and Boys. Posted by Girl Friday. Keep Calm, Carry On. A year ago I went through what I thought would be the hardest thing ever. Then I brought home my two little (and I mean ickle) monkeys and really found out what hard work was. But here we are, all four of us still alive and smiling. Its been the hardest and best year of my life (so far) but man am I glad it's over! Posted by Girl Friday. New Shoes are like the best thing ever. Sometimes it's the small things. Happy Friday. 10 At t...

A Life Unordinary: What a loser!
http://alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2011/01/what-loser.html
Terms being "a homemaker and a professional" and here are some observations. I am literally tired. There are varying degrees of my exhaustion which range from staring at my computer at work and sleeping with my eyes open to very bad dark circles. Not attractive no matter how you look at it. That said, I couldn't be happier. I miss my monkeys during the day, but have employed Mary Poppins and therefore I don't worry about them, I just wish there were more hours in the day. Posted by Girl Friday. The (mis)...

Now to master the art of being a Mad Woman who is behind the door instead of in front of it. It happened, I swear, read it here. Another Life Not So Ordinary.

A Life Unordinary: January 2011
http://alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
I have a happy history or encounters with the Norwegians. My first encounter was at the Women's World Cup matches in Portugal circa 2001. Aside from the match in which they played the USA team, I tended to side with the Norway fans at every field battle I attended. They were a fun, raucous. Group and they took me into their fold. They taught me swear words in Norwegian. As I fastened my seat belt. Raised my tray table and returned my seat back. To its upright position I started thinking back (as I often ...

A Life Unordinary: A beautiful nightmare
http://alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2011/01/beautiful-nightmare.html
Last night I had a dream about an old friend and woke up with a start. For an important period of my life, we were very close and then one day we weren't. I miss her often and think of her even more. I think for the West in particular, we live in a disposable culture. I do think though that by in large we expect our friendships to last. Once we have made it through the hormonal teenage years followed by the angsty. There were four of us during that time in my life and we were thick as theives. Ex boyfrie...

A Life Unordinary: America: Home of the free land of the brave
http://alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2011/03/america-home-of-free-land-of-brave.html
America: Home of the free land of the brave. Today I spent the better part of the afternoon at the American Embassy trying to get my passport expanded yet again. It's the second time in a year that I have stepped foot on American ground in London. As always it's a truly unique experience. It's the only place I have ever come across in London where strangers talk to each other. When we were there last year to register the twinkies. Who has time for that? And braver as keeping to yourself. Others. Ah, your...

A Life Unordinary: Top 10 Reasons I am glad I waited until I was OLD to have children
http://alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2010/10/top-10-reasons-i-am-glad-i-waited-until.html
Top 10 Reasons I am glad I waited until I was OLD to have children. Well, first off I don't think anyone plans to have 2 or more at a time. But if you are old (which according to the NHS. I am) it is about the best thing that can happen, in my opinion. You get it all out of the way in one go, no muss no fuss. Just add milk and you have an instant family. So I was lucky in that I got two for one, but in general, here are the top ten reasons I am glad I waited until I was old to have children. 6 I am a muc...
