Campus Scene: The Business of Raising Fish. THE CAMPUS FISH HATCHERY. Recently received a major upgrade, thanks to alumni gifts to the Humboldt Loyalty Fund, which supports student scholarships, academic programs research, and other special projects. Originally built in the 1950s, the hatchery’s massive overhaul included the installation of a Recirculating Aquaculture System, or RAS. Did you know that the Hatchery also raises and sells steelhead trout and coastal cutthroat trout?
