I am a first-year doctoral student at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. This blog is for a digital history course I am taking entitled “History and New Media” with Professor Paula Petrik. My research interests include the American Revolution and Early National eras, and I focus on race, slavery, manumission, and the fluid meanings and uses of liberty in the burgeoning American republic. April 26, 2010. Posted by lprice3 under Clio II. I spent my entire weekend in a cold-medicine-induced haze, attempting to work on my final website. It is not done yet. I still have to go to Richmond to obtain the documents for that section. I also have to complete the other lesson plans. But it is a start. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on? Other comments are also welcome so I can work on improving it before next Tuesday. Thanks everyone. 3 Responses to “Final Website”. You are commenting us...

My final project is the creation of a web database of the Alexandria Free Negro Registers, 1797 to 1861. In 1793, Virginia passed a law stating that every free African American was required to register with the county in which they lived, and for twenty-five cents they received a copy of their registration as proof of freedom.
