David Crockett (1786-1836)

Davy Crockett was perhaps best known in Tennessee as a noted hunter and for his unique style of backwoods oratory. In Texas, however, he will always be remembered as a heroic participant in the Battle of the Alamo. Crockett was born 17 August 1786 in what is now northeastern Tennessee. Fifty-four delegates of the Convention of 1836 began meeting on March 1 at the village of Washington-on-the-Brazos. Each of the settlements of Texas were represented by delegates elected one month earlier. Richard Ellis was elected president of the convention and Herbert S. Kimble secretary. Mirabeau B. Lamar. Born in Georgia in 1798, Mirabeau B. Lamar excelled in his youth as a horseman, writer of verse, and painter in oils. He came to Texas in 1835. After a quick trip back to Georgia to settle his affairs, he returned to Texas in the midst of the revolution and enlisted as a private in the Texas army. Monday, August 31, 2009. I've been meaning to post this since I watched it on Sportscenter. The MLB is in major need of a realignment. It's time for a change. Over the past 10 years, ballpark attendance has remained stagnant. We need to stimulate growth for America's favorite pastime. Buck Showalter has a good idea. Although, maybe not perfect. His idea is to do away with the American League and National League. Choose either DH or no DH, either way. Get rid of two teams. There are other realignment ideas.
