Life and science of an early career ecologist. Despite all my good intentions it has been very quiet in this space. For a long time. Nine months to be precise. Which only illustrates what a hectic year it’s been! Yes, I know I wrote exactly the same last time. First of all, in October 2013, I applied both for a BBSRC David Phillips Fellowship. And a Royal Society University Research Fellowship. Me and my new human being. This entry was posted in Academia. Soil Carbon Storage: The Headache of Grazing.

Study systems « Frantecologist

Life and science of an early career ecologist. Temperate grasslands are a great system to study aboveground – belowground interactions. There are a lot of them in the North of England, and their diversity and species composition are relatively easy to characterise and manipulate. I have done a lot of work in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, often in the rain, and I will continue to work in these systems. One comment on “ Study systems. September 21, 2013 at 9:49 am. Life and science of an early career ecologist. Blood, sweat, and tears: the story behind the paper. I have already hinted at it in a previous post, and I have been tweeting a lot about it during the past couple of days: our paper ‘Soil food web properties explain ecosystem services across European land use systems’. Is now online on the PNAS website! For me, it all started in 2009, when I started my postdoc within the EU-funded project SOILSERVICE. Finally, in our project meeting in Lund in November 2011...
