A refusal to submit to the authority of the dictatorship of relativism. Monday, 25 November 2013. I have just discovered (and added to my blogroll) Catholic Cravings. Which I would say has something for everyone, although not cat posts but that's OK because Mulier Fortis. Has them nicely covered. Links to this post. Monday, 18 November 2013. Social healthcare and the A and E thing. Recently there has been a lot in the news about the pressure which A&E departments are facing. Links to this post. The stran...

Recusancy: March 2013

A refusal to submit to the authority of the dictatorship of relativism. Wednesday, 20 March 2013. Not in my name. Whilst I try to mainly limit myself to writing about healthcare-related issues, one of the reasons I started blogging was because I was fed up with people telling me that as an [educated] woman there were things I should want (sex, drugs and the ordination of women) and things I shouldn't want (marriage, children, self-respect, and the right not to sing. Shine, Jesus, Shine. Role of the laity.

A refusal to submit to the authority of the dictatorship of relativism. Friday, 22 August 2014. Professor Dawkins and the increase of the sum total of happiness. Poor Professor Dawkins has apparently caused a furore on twitter. If your morality is based, as Professor Dawkins' is, on a desire to increase happiness and reduce suffering you should presumably never say anything that might offend anyone because offense generates suffering, even if this is a subjective response. By extension of his argument th...

A refusal to submit to the authority of the dictatorship of relativism. Monday, 21 October 2013. Whose conscience is it anyway? I was browsing my September issue of Regula e, published by the General Pharmaceutical Council, which is the regulatory body for pharmacies, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, when I came across this article about a pharmacist who had had conditions placed on his practice, by the Fitness to Practise (FtP) committee, for 'imposing his beliefs on patients'. Was he trying to abs...

A refusal to submit to the authority of the dictatorship of relativism. Saturday, 27 July 2013. The Catholic Guide to Depression - Aaron Kheriaty, John Cihak. This book was lent to me by a friend who also suffers from depression and had found it helpful. I was so impressed by the introduction that I almost sat down to blog about it there and then. If you have depression, you should read this book: it will help you understand yourself, your illness and what you can do about it. I found it both practic...

Recusancy: Carey and Tutu should really know better

A refusal to submit to the authority of the dictatorship of relativism. Monday, 14 July 2014. Carey and Tutu should really know better. Over the weekend I found myself astonished by the comments of Lord Carey and Archbishop Tutu on assisted dying. Carey started the ball rolling with his article in the Daily Mail. His original article is at the end, the first section is a review both of his comments and the Bill). He makes several points:. Modern medicine is capable of ending life as well as prolonging it.

Recusancy: Taking a break
http://iwillnothidemyfaith.blogspot.com/2013/12/taking-break.html
A refusal to submit to the authority of the dictatorship of relativism. Thursday, 12 December 2013. I have decided to take a break from blogging. I enjoy blogging, and I like to think that I have got something to offer in the blogosphere, but right now it's not helping me grow in holiness. But I will be back because, apart from anything else, there is nothing edifying about this nativity set whatsoever -. In the mean time, I wish you all a blessed Advent. Challenges of present day. Why - Sharon Dirckx.

Recusancy: Eugenics, ante-natal testing and choice
http://iwillnothidemyfaith.blogspot.com/2014/08/eugenics-ante-natal-testing-and-choice.html
A refusal to submit to the authority of the dictatorship of relativism. Wednesday, 6 August 2014. Eugenics, ante-natal testing and choice. Some time ago I blogged about testing for Down's Syndrome. Now, there is news about some other genetic disorders: namely Patau. Earlier testing will become available. Comments will almost certainly be published, but it would be nice if they included things like capital letters and full stops, and didnt include text speak. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
