Renaissance Woman: Noise Anxiety
http://sandiratch.blogspot.com/2012/05/noise-anxiety.html
Friday, May 11, 2012. As I get older, I learn more and more. I always used to think I was just intolerant and needed to accept certain things in life, because most other people were not annoyed by thing things that bothered me. As a matter of fact, most people didn't even notice them. I don't want to be. But that's just who I am. Even now, I will point out a pounding bass line from someone's home or car stereo and my husband will say "what music? Just yesterday, I went to a restaurant with my In-Laws and...

Renaissance Woman: The Thing in the Compost
http://sandiratch.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-thing-in-compost.html
Tuesday, September 18, 2012. The Thing in the Compost. As anyone who lives around here can contest to, we had an amazing growing season here in central Alberta. Everything was big, bountiful and ripened a little bit early. It was incredible. I've shown some pictures of my big pumpkins:. And Zucchini (which I grew so I could save seeds):. It's been a good year for squash here. It doesn't seem so impressive until you compare it with that large zucchini pictured above:. Posted by Sandi Ratch. This blog take...

Renaissance Woman: Irene - the Glamazon meets Mickey on her 90th birthday
http://sandiratch.blogspot.com/2015/03/irene-glamazon-meets-mickey-on-her-90th.html
Saturday, March 7, 2015. Irene - the Glamazon meets Mickey on her 90th birthday. I've been doing some research for the Royal Alberta Museum. They are in the process of building a brand new museum and populating it with new displays. I've been doing some of the research for the displays, looking for the photographs that will help illustrate some of them. I've been totally blessed to do something that I LOVE to do, and to get paid for it as well. How lucky am I? Throughout the 50s, 60s (and maybe the 70s?

Renaissance Woman: Lies!!
http://sandiratch.blogspot.com/2013/07/lies.html
Thursday, July 4, 2013. Hmmm it feels like absolutely FOREVER since I wrote a post. Sorry about that. There are a couple of possible reasons for that. Either I've not been bothered by anything and I haven't been able to think of anything to write, or I've been in a bit of a slump and haven't felt like writing. Honestly, I can't tell you which it is. Well, one thing did happen the other day that bothered me a bit, and I mulled over it for a while. And here it is. Posted by Sandi Ratch. Postcards #1 - Banff.

Renaissance Woman: Postcards #45 - S.N. Leek and Elk!
http://sandiratch.blogspot.com/2015/03/postcards-45-sn-leek-and-elk.html
Friday, March 6, 2015. Postcards #45 - S.N. Leek and Elk! When I wrote an earlier post. About Atlin and the gold rush, I had this particular postcard in the pile to include with the others in that post. But then I took a closer look at it . Three harsh winters put the herd in danger from 1909-1911 when numbers decreased to less than 10,000. Local residents started to feed the Elk hay as they were dying in such numbers. Leek took pictures of the problem, publishing them in magazine and newspaper a...Perso...

Renaissance Woman: Sharing a post
http://sandiratch.blogspot.com/2011/06/sharing-post.html
Thursday, June 30, 2011. I rarely do this, although perhaps I should start doing it more. I just read this blog post, and think it's a really good one for the environmentally-minded as well as the locovores. This is from a woman in New Zealand who has gone back to the land and is living on Haleltree Farm. I love how the Internet connects us. Let's share the information. It's important.
