Lympho Bob: March 2015
http://lymphobob.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
A blog about Cancer in general, and Follicular Lymphoma in particular. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Vitamin D and Follicular Lymphoma. Reports on new research on Vitamin D levels and survival in Follicular Lymphoma patients. It reports on a study from. The Journal of Clinical Oncology. I think it's worth discussing both of them. Or, more importantly, my reaction to both of them. I read the MedicalXpress. So anything about Vitamin D and cancer catches my attention. At this point, I'm thinking, "Woo hoo! Readi...
Lympho Bob: RRAGC Mutations in Follicular Lymphoma
http://lymphobob.blogspot.com/2015/08/rragc-mutations-in-follicular-lymphoma.html
A blog about Cancer in general, and Follicular Lymphoma in particular. Sunday, August 2, 2015. RRAGC Mutations in Follicular Lymphoma. The 2015 Congress of the European Hematology Association was held in Vienna in June, and I'm starting to see some of the good research that was presented there. EHA is more or less the European equivalent of ASH, the American Society for Hematology. Same goals - to showcase research that targets blood diseases, including Follicular Lymphoma. It still amazes me that we can...
Lympho Bob: August 2015
http://lymphobob.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
A blog about Cancer in general, and Follicular Lymphoma in particular. Friday, August 28, 2015. Patients Against Lymphoma (PAL), the group that runs the Lymphomation.org. Website, is conducting a survey of lymphoma patients. The survey only takes 5-10 minutes to complete. If you take it (and I really hope you will), be sure to read the introduction, so you are fully informed about the survey. (I know you readers have a thing for being fully informed.). You can find the PAL survey here. Links to this post.
Lympho Bob: Pixar, Cancer, and Staying Positive
http://lymphobob.blogspot.com/2015/07/pixar-cancer-and-staying-positive.html
A blog about Cancer in general, and Follicular Lymphoma in particular. Friday, July 10, 2015. Pixar, Cancer, and Staying Positive. As I was waiting in the doctor's office this morning (why is it that when I get there 15 minutes early, I'm still called in 20 minutes late? I flipped through a copy of Entertainment Weekly. My favorite trashy doctor's office magazine. It was maybe a month old, and it had a review of the new Pixar movie Inside/Out. Now, my favorite Pixar movie has to be Up. There's a essay on...
Lympho Bob: October 2014
http://lymphobob.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
A blog about Cancer in general, and Follicular Lymphoma in particular. Tuesday, October 28, 2014. The Blood Cancer Journal. Recently published the results of a phase I clinical study on Ixazomib, a proteasome inhibitor. It showed some promise for use on Follicular Lymphoma. Ixazomib will work in a similar way, though it has a different structure than Bortezomib/Velcade, which the developers hope will result in greater effectiveness and fewer side effects. Tales From Lymph-home-a: Recovering...And Squirrel Watching
http://talesfromlymphhomea.blogspot.com/2013/07/recoveringand-squirrel-watching.html
The true story of how hodge and non-hodge joined our family. Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Recovering. And Squirrel Watching. I'm not going to try and cough up a reason for my lack of updates. Seriously, I can't even think of a good excuse. But here's a picture my husband took of a squirrel eating a Butterfinger. The excuse well has runneth dry. Obviously. Type of thing. One morning I caught him riding up a mountain on his bike though, so maybe he took 3 steps forward last weekend. And the hair! Both the pati...

Tales From Lymph-home-a: August 2013
http://talesfromlymphhomea.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
The true story of how hodge and non-hodge joined our family. Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Sorry it's taken me a month to actually fill you in on the results of the scans. Apparently I'm easily distracted. But you already knew that. So, the day Mom and Dad went up to Huntsman to meet with Dr. H about Dad's scan, Mom sent us this text, which didn't exactly decrease anyone's level of anxiety. How can a cancer scan be mostly. You see, PET. Seriously, a PET. Scan is only kind of helpful in determining whether ...

http://talesfromlymphhomea.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
The true story of how hodge and non-hodge joined our family. Saturday, March 30, 2013. Did it get out of hand? Why yes, yes it did. My sister Minda and her husband Scott sent Mom and Dad a box of wigs to play with. It's all fun and games until Dad is too tired to go to work and just so happens to have an excellent disguise sitting in his closet. Really, I blame Scott and Minda for Dad's resorting to other tactics to pay the bills. I think it's the shoes that give him away. They're much too shiny. Sorry f...

Thinking Out Loud: A Cancer Blog: I Used To Be Disgusted...
http://msbuller.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-used-to-be-disgusted.html
Thinking Out Loud: A Cancer Blog. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. I Used To Be Disgusted. Not the holiday season but the season of end-of-year school activities. Beginning of summer fun. It's a chance to enjoy all the simple things that make summer great - longer days, sunshine and swimming pools, vacations and backyard barbecues, and seeing friends who we haven't seen in a long time. But cancer has a way of complicating even the simplest things. Or "How's your health? Not acting up again is it? And sometimes I...
Thinking Out Loud: A Cancer Blog: Take That, Take Two
http://msbuller.blogspot.com/2012/05/take-that-take-two.html
Thinking Out Loud: A Cancer Blog. Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Take That, Take Two. The East Bay Bike Path which runs. From Bristol, RI to Providence. Sometimes when I run,I feel like I'm running. Other times I feel like a runner. This weekend I had a run like that. It's harder and in that hardness, there's more than a feeling of completion, there's a sense of assertion. And on those days when it all feels right, there's a sense of take that, cancer. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Be Good. Be Strong.
Thinking Out Loud: A Cancer Blog: February 2014
http://msbuller.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thinking Out Loud: A Cancer Blog. Sunday, February 23, 2014. Running through a New England Winter. Yesterday was beautiful. That rare February New England day, when two-month high piles of snow start to melt as the thermostat tops 50. A great day to shed the long pants, gloves and hat, and go out for a long run. And what meditation was, I realized that for me, running is meditation. Of proving to myself that I'm a real runner. In the past that's gotten me out and running in all sorts of weather. But ...
Thinking Out Loud: A Cancer Blog: Silver Lining
http://msbuller.blogspot.com/2012/06/silver-lining.html
Thinking Out Loud: A Cancer Blog. Friday, June 1, 2012. For six years, I edited a monthly inflight magazine. As with many senior editorial positions, it involved little writing - an occasional assignment that I'd take on but never really have the time to do the way I wanted to, or a short item that was easier to just write up than explain to another writer. It was my first blog. Before I flipped the public switch. I found my voice. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Be Good. Be Strong. We are always lea...

Tales From Lymph-home-a: Bliss and Woe
http://talesfromlymphhomea.blogspot.com/2013/07/bliss-and-woe.html
The true story of how hodge and non-hodge joined our family. Monday, July 22, 2013. A summary of Lake Powell via iphone pictures. Every trip to Lake Powell carries with it an abundance of blissful moments, however we almost always come back with at least a few tales of woe. Somehow, this year the bliss and the woe both reached an all time high. After years of pep talks and bribes, the kids finally took to skiing. Watching them pop out of the water over and over again was a bit nostalgic. My parents have ...

Lymphoblaster
The musings of a gal dancing with the demons of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Thursday, January 2, 2014. In 5 Years Time. If you have seen the movie, The Truman Show. And can recall its ending ,. You might be able to savor my state of mind mid 2011. After my last dose of methotrexate and bilateral hip replacements I bumped into the seeming end of my cancer experience and discovered a door leading to what? I didn’t know and barely dared to imagine. Where does her story go when cancer doesn't end in death?

A blog about Cancer in general, and Follicular Lymphoma in particular. Wednesday, April 4, 2018. I've always tried to be an advocate for clinical trials. They are important - we can't get any new treatments unless there are patients who are willing to try them out first to see if they work (that is, they do a better and safer job than the treatments we have now). Now, there are lots of reasons why patients don't get involved with trials. Sometimes, that's personal choice, as it was with mine. It's a comp...
