Lancaster Snow ~ Potomac Artworks
http://bfbutler.blogspot.com/2015/01/lancaster-snow.html
Pastel Society of Virginia. I begin another 30 paintings in 30 days challenge this month with a series that will come from our trip to Lancaster PA over Thanksgiving. Painting snow is unusual for me, because I generally prefer sunny climes. I think I will also try repeating from within the series for additional insight and looseness. Beach Cottages at Sunset, Cape May. Pastel on Pastelbord 24"x18". The Charm of en Plein Air. Much of my work is done en plein air. My aim when painting en plein air. An arti...

Hillsborough Silo ~ Potomac Artworks
http://bfbutler.blogspot.com/2015/03/hillsborough-silo.html
Pastel Society of Virginia. This is from the vantage of Hillsborough Vineyards; it's a small, charming farm with both a treeline and a fence line next door. Beach Cottages at Sunset, Cape May. Pastel on Pastelbord 24"x18". The Charm of en Plein Air. Much of my work is done en plein air. Several characteristics contribute to the distinctive beauty of en plein air. Which then identifies my overall style: softness with an edge. My aim when painting en plein air. Is for alla prima. DC Area Plein Air Sites.

Lynn Goldstein Fine Art: Why I Became a Landscape Painter
http://lynngoldsteinfineart.blogspot.com/2015/08/why-i-became-landscape-painter.html
Lynn Goldstein Fine Art. Art and Life, Life and Art. Monday, August 3, 2015. Why I Became a Landscape Painter. I was going home for my class reunion to see friends I hadn't seen in years. Many of these friends hold a special place in my heart, and I was fortunate enough to stay in the home of one of them. I am grateful for all of my friends, and this one is particularly special for many reasons. We have been friends since we were 3 years old. THAT is a meaningful friendship! Subscribe To My Updates.

Lynn Goldstein Fine Art: April 2015
http://lynngoldsteinfineart.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Lynn Goldstein Fine Art. Art and Life, Life and Art. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Monochromatic, Not Monotonous. Well, I had my students work on a monochromatic painting awhile back. They grumbled heavily! A monochromatic color scheme is derived from a single base hue (color) with the use of that hue's shades, tones, and tints. If a student wanted to use one other hue, I allowed it if they felt the painting would only work well with the other hue included. A bit more pastel added for the clouds. Welcome to...

Lynn Goldstein Fine Art: July 2015
http://lynngoldsteinfineart.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Lynn Goldstein Fine Art. Art and Life, Life and Art. Monday, July 13, 2015. Inspired By My Past. Here is the Jewish immigration piece in progress. The books are all painted. Glassine paper is used between the books to keep them from sticking together. Here's a close up of the trees painted on the spine. That aforementioned paper between the books will be removed once the piece is finished. I will be using wax on the books to eliminate the sticking problem. Jewish art. Jewish Immigration.
