The Cobbles of Colonia del Sacramento. July 14, 2015. I have never in my life seen a better sunset anywhere else in the world than I did later that day. The best way to describe Colonia is through pictures, so here are a few I took on our short stay. Buenos Aires: Take 1. Buenos Aires: Take Two. July 28, 2015. We came back to Buenos Aires primarily because it’s the easiest way to get back into Argentina from the part of Uruguay we were in, but we decided to stay in Buenos Aires for a further five nights to be able to do the things we had missed out on the first time. Here’s what we got up to on Buenos Aires Round Two. Also in the Palermo barrio, but closer to the main roads and metro stations is the Buenos Aires Botanical Gardens. Less iconic than the botanical garden...

From Gringo to Gaucho: Horse Riding on an Estancia. July 21, 2015. On our way back from Montevideo to Colonia del Sacramento we stopped off and spent a few days on an estancia, a horse farm in the middle of the countryside, called El Galope. We stayed with Miguel and Monica who introduced us to rural Uruguayan life. We stayed in a converted stable, with views out of our window of rolling green fields and, of course, lots of horses. Continuing through Córdoba | KingLilith

August 10, 2015. After a few days in Rosario we continued on to Cordoba, Argentina’s second largest city. We had heard good things about the culture, night life an the things to do in general, so we thought it might be a bit like Buenos Aires but perhaps a little less stuck up! I have to say, we were disappointed, and fellow travellers we’ve met since our visit to Cordoba have said the same. We rented a lovely flat from a very friendly couple called Gabi and Edgar,. August 3, 2015. The Panama river stretches the length of Rosario (and beyond) and I think it’s a real asset to the city. For purely aesthetic purposes it makes walks in Rosario really pretty. There are several stretches of long park beside the river and even though it’s winter, the sun was shining and we took the opportunity to sit outside in the sun with a beer, watching the boats pass by. The Lanterns of Hoi An. October 9, 2016. With it’s traditional Vietnamese buildings, multi coloured lanterns, lush green countryside and white sandy beach, it’s no surprise that Hoi An is a very popular Vietnamese destination. It quickly became one of my favourite places on our Southeast Asia trip, and you could tell that many people felt the same way. It was very busy … Continue reading →. Montevideo’s Mixed Messages | KingLilith

Montevideo’s Mixed Messages. July 19, 2015. After a few days in Colonia we got a bus three hours East to the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo. Over one third of the 3.5 million Uruguayans live in Montevideo, and you get the sense that it’s a mini Buenos Aires (montevideanos probably wouldn’t like it being described as that! I felt a lot more warmly towards Colonia del Sacramento, which was small but welcoming, and a lot prettier than Montevideo. Montevideo is a pendulum swinging between good and bad; I ...
