Madeline Shea - Painter. Oil painting of a woman. This is a commission that I was asked to do from a photograph. I used three primary colors, white and two. Shades of brown. I was able to capture all of the colors present in the photograph. Colors are cadmium. Yellow, ultramarine blue, magenta, burnt umber, burnt sienna, and titanium white. Here I blocked in basic colors, and general location of shapes (dark and light) in the picture. Refining features and adding details. Still refining and adding detail.

Gambas al ajillo | Marge's Next Meal

https://margesnextmeal.wordpress.com/2015/03/25/gambas-al-ajillo

Marge's Next Meal. March 25, 2015. April 11, 2015. Last weekend, my dear friend Maggie and I got together to cook, eat, drink wine and reminisce about our recent trip to Spain and Portugal. Last September, the two of us rented a Smart car and drove from Madrid to Rioja, San Sebastian and Leon before heading due west to Guimaeres and Porto, Portugal, and then finishing the trip in Salamanca and our beloved Madrid. Maggie, muy jovial (como siempre), at the Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid, Spain. The nickna...

Marge's Next Meal. February 24, 2015. March 8, 2015. I’ve pretty much hit my limit with this winter. I now eat hot starchy things at almost every meal. Polenta, rice, pasta, cous cous, cracked wheat: whatever grain I can get my hands on gets cooked in liquid with a little cheese, herbs and/or butter and mixed with meat, vegetables, broth and–usually–additional cheese. 8221; into the bitter wind. (I’ve been yelling at the weather.). Steel-cut oat risotto with poached egg. Olive oil, as needed. When the oa...

Sriracha-stir fried cauliflower | Marge's Next Meal

https://margesnextmeal.wordpress.com/2015/03/12/sriracha-stir-fried-cauliflower

Marge's Next Meal. March 12, 2015. March 25, 2015. Isn’t cauliflower the best? I have been going a little nuts with it lately–putting it in all kinds of pasta dishes, chopping it up and adding it raw to salads, roasting it and topping it with Parmesan, pureeing it into soup, even scrambling it with eggs–because everything is good with eggs. To do it, I like to first cut the head in half. Then I break it down into more manageably sized “trees” by sawing off their stems near the top; then I...Now you can r...

Marge's Next Meal. Printed word rituals sandwich contemplation. April 11, 2015. April 13, 2015. Little by little, shelf by shelf, my house is filling up with magazines. Piles of dogeared, coffee-stained. Whole shelves crammed with food and fashion magazines of varying age and condition, and the prized bookbound Kinfolk issues neatly stacked under the coffee table. There are plenty of books, too, though their numbers have leveled off considerably since I caved and got a Kindle. 1 lemon, divided. 8-inch pi...

Sardine and avocado sandwiches | Marge's Next Meal

https://margesnextmeal.com/2013/05/23/sardine-and-avocado-sandwiches

Marge's Next Meal. Sardine and avocado sandwiches. May 23, 2013. May 29, 2013. I am never one to turn down a good sardine recipe, something I owe in part to my Irish heritage. (Both my grandfather and Sean’s grandmother were fond of piling them on Saltine crackers as a snack, and Sean and I like eating them in all sorts of dishes, so through this small population sample, I’ve deduced that people of Irish descent must like sardines.). Use a good-quality bread with some heft and flavor of its own for the s...

When greens turn | Marge's Next Meal

https://margesnextmeal.com/2015/03/08/when-greens-turn

Marge's Next Meal. March 8, 2015. March 12, 2015. I hate withery greens! Like when you open a perfectly fresh looking box of lettuce or other leafy greens only to discover that several of the leaves in the middle are covered in brownish mush where once-fresh leaves were. The more you dig, the more you discover that the withering has spread, until you’ve plucked out about a third of either withered or contaminated leaves and are now cursing out loud. Smear it on bread and top with sliced avocado! Remove t...

Born and raised in Rancho Cucamonga, California. I have two brothers, Brandon and Justin. I love them very much! We had so much fun at the pumpkin patch. We had so much fun taking this picture. Granpa took this picture of us. I enjoy every moment with my family. They mean everything to me. When I don't go to school, my grandma and grandpa take care of me. I love them. My Dad wants to take me to Rome and Paris. I can't wait! My dad loaded YouTube Kids on my iPad, and the shows I watch keep me entertained.
