The Yanna Research Station. YRS) has been the Madison Astronomical Society's prime dark sky site since 1984. It is available for use by members and their accompanied guests. Named for LeRoy Yanna. Who donated the land, the Yanna Research Station is home to the society's four permanently mounted telescopes (2 dome and 2 roll-off buildings), a heated and air-conditioned clubhouse, a sanitary facility, and 7 concrete pads with nearby electrical access where members can set up their own observing equipment.

What is the Madison Astronomical Society? MAS is a non-profit organization promoting observational astronomy and discussions of astronomical topics. Our aim is to bring the wonders of the universe to the public. We maintain a dark-sky observatory where members hold observing sessions. Are held the second Friday of each month except June, usually at UW Space Place. Located at 2300 S. Park Street in Madison. They include shop-talk discussions and speakers on astronomical topics. Must I be an expert to join?
