Thoughts, notes and observations on the birds, plants, animals and insects of the beautiful British countryside. Tuesday, August 14, 2007. Perhaps by next spring we'll have something worth using on the garden. Catch a Shooting Star. We spent a pleasant evening on Sunday at my brother's house as it was my mum's birthday. They had lit a fire in a burner outside and we all stood round hoping to see shooting stars as it had been forecasted to be a wonderful meteor shower. I was wondering how far this little ...

It's cold in the air, it's really Autumn. But even so this beauty is still flowering. I hope they come up again next year even better. I love the architectural effect of hollyhocks. Thoughts, notes and observations on the birds, plants, animals and insects of the beautiful British countryside. Wednesday, June 13, 2007. In the Olden Days. I found this fascinating online account. Of a 19th Century nature photographer. He records his travels all over the British Isles photographing birds, dragonflies and anything else interesting including one or two of the strange locals! Magpie Angel: April 2007

Thoughts, notes and observations on the birds, plants, animals and insects of the beautiful British countryside. Monday, April 23, 2007. On my walks during lunch break I have found a few leafy roads to peruse near to work. There are big old houses with mature trees and large bushes and shrubs. Lots of cherry trees dripping with blossom, weeping willows, and magnolias with those pretty pink petals that seem to me to be a plant equivalent of flamingoes. Wednesday, April 11, 2007. Where the wolves are: March 2007
http://wherethewolvesare.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 31, 2007. Originally uploaded by wherethewolvesare. Forget the very ropey sketching, just look at that terracotta colour. Wow! The sketch is honestly only barely average but I absolutely nailed the colour of the cut rock sides of the Selby bypass. The sun was bright and made the sandstone cutting glow - it took the edge off of the cold wind, from within. Just look at that colour. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Thursday, November 01, 2007. I'm not keen on eating pumpkins but don't they look great - great colour, great shape. I'm always glad to see them in the shops. And underneath, one of my little pumpkins, Mia, having a nap! Very nice, thanks for sharing. Anna @ rental mobil jakarta. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). As for magpies, I just like 'em, and I find that the black and white stays in my mind's eye, long enough to get down on paper, better than most other sights. Tuesday, August 21, 2007. At the end of our road there are open fields, and when we get a wet spell, like this last week, they can get pretty boggy with some patches of standing water. I like this because it's the nearest I'm going to get to waterside living for the forseeable future and it always attracts some mallards within a couple of days. Where the wolves are: The Rumbling Kern
http://wherethewolvesare.blogspot.com/2007/08/rumbling-kern.html
Tuesday, August 21, 2007. Originally uploaded by wherethewolvesare. Sorry for my absence, but unlike the summer, at least I did return. Just got back from our holiday, in Northumberland. We had a farm cottage just yards from the sea, near Howick and by a 'feature' most wonderfully called, on the OS maps, 'The Rumbling Kern'. I've no idea what a kern is, presumably it's a rocky cove, but each night we fell asleep to the rumble of the waves hitting the rocks. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Textiles in Progress and Thoughts on Creative Flow. Wednesday, December 20, 2006. Online Community Coming Soon. All of this is going to take time to build but I am hoping it's going to be really cool when it's all done and ready to go. The idea of the whole thing is to share ideas about all aspects of being a textile artist including marketing and promotion, creativity issues, and ideas on techniques. I'm aiming to have most of this up and running by the end of January on my revamped site. In A Minute Ago.

Magpie & Whale – Esther's Miscellany
Why I Hate Muses. Innogen and the Hungry Half. Here’s a poem for today by…. March 12, 2016. One of my favorite morning rituals is listening to. The Writer’s Almanac. Poetry. Listening to it, however, is a joy, and Keillor, whose “News From Lake Wobegon” segment has been a constant pleasure throughout my life, is the perfect voice for it. I’m going to be quoting my favorite bits from each poem, which is sometimes the end, so… spoiler warning? Plus ça change except they really do. February 12, 2016. And al...

Thoughts, notes and observations on the birds, plants, animals and insects of the beautiful British countryside. Thursday, November 15, 2007. Apparently there is a rather large, aggressive ladybird now here in the UK which could eat our cute little native ladybirds out of house and home. See. A ladybird turned up in the office and I checked but it wasn't a Harlequin I don't think. I never knew there were so many kinds of ladybirds native to this country (46 to be exact). Fly away home;. Baba Yaga School Assignment 2014. This was a fun and stressful project: within a week we (my classmates and I) worked on the puppets and the set, that consisted of Baba Yaga's house, the skull fence, the ground, the trees and the backdrop. I was responsible for some of the skulls on the fence, the painted backdrop and I worked on the animation of the characters. Dance-cycle School Assignment 2014.
