Jan - March: This is the recovery phase for oysters where they are thin and less appealing. The Mahurangi Harbour has an impeccable health record. Safety and satisfaction of our customers comes first. Opening (Shucking) an oyster. This is easier than you think. It's about technique rather than muscle, and practice will help you improve. We recommend lots of practice!

Ur family first began farming oysters in 1991. Andrew selected this environmentally-friendly farming option after working on trout and scallop farms in the UK and completing a marine biology degree at Auckland University. The opportunity for Andrew and Lisa to live and work near the ocean, and raise a family in such a beautiful environment was also a strong influence on the decision to set up our business here. We are in Auckland for the launch of Al Brown's new cookbook, " Depot: Biography of a Restaurant". It's a fantastic book and guess who appears in it? Nod and Lisa. So exciting! We've been supplying Al's Depot restaurant since it opened and we're really proud of the on-going relationship.
