Tuesday, October 13, 2015. Sabattus Mountain, Lovell, Maine 10/13/15. Directions: From Lovell take Rt. 5 North, drive 4.5 miles to Center Lovell. Turn right on Sabattus Road. After about a mile take a right on Sabattus Trail Rd., a dirt road. Continue almost a mile to a parking lot marked with a sign on the right. Hike Time: 1 hour. Elevation gain: 500 feet. Monday, August 10, 2015. Rock wall near foundation. At a fork in the trail we found what must have been the foundation of the Sawyer homestead. It was made up of two large, adjacent rectangles. We also found a well (not too deep, no worries) and a huge green caterpillar that looked sort of like a new pinecone. The view to the west from the summit of Sawyer Mountain.
