Because I needed another hobby like I needed another hole in my head.: June 2010
http://mellyinstitches.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 24, 2010. It's just a flesh wound. When last we met. The kitchen table had been clamped into submission and I was finishing the stain on it whether I liked it or not. I've since polyurethaned the living daylights out of it in an effort to get the finish I want. I swear to God it is yet again sitting on the back deck getting a layer of poly on it. Steve is both attractively well-educated and a total jackass at the same time. It's a good thing I'm pretty, eh? Never let it be said that I don'...

Because I needed another hobby like I needed another hole in my head.: It's done it's done it's done!
http://mellyinstitches.blogspot.com/2011/04/its-done-its-done-its-done.html
Monday, April 25, 2011. It's done it's done it's done! I procrastinated forever about getting the scrappy border on. And then I took a while to audition some single fabric borders. And then I finally just put my big girl panties on and finished the quilt. It makes me so happy. I tried to get a nice hanging shot but it was too windy to go with a tree or the fence and my husband? It's not quite right for our house, I'm still toying with letting my mother-in-law auction it off for her church auction. Or...

The Johnson Family: Quilting Frenzy
http://rickjohnsonfamily.blogspot.com/2010/06/quilting-frenzie.html
Sunday, June 20, 2010. 2 This quilt started with a charm pack I picked up in southern Nevada. I bordered each sqaure with a polka dot print and then a stripe border set them off. I used a fun floral print from Kaffe Fassett for the last border that tied all of the colors together. 5 Another circle quilt using Christmas fabrics. The quilt group made and traded them with each other. I finished mine using a border print and mitered corners. One of the circle has Elvis on it. Pretty funny. This started out a...

In Awe of Applique: What I did on Summer Vacation
http://inaweofapplique.blogspot.com/2013/08/what-i-did-on-summer-vacation.html
In Awe of Applique. Sunday, August 25, 2013. What I did on Summer Vacation. Upon reflecting the end of summer, it doesn't seem that I accomplished much, but now that I look at the photos I snapped, it seems that I have actually been fairly active (yes, I am a little surprised at that). I did a little wine tasting at Maryhill and Naked Wineries and hiking Catherine Creek in the Columbia River Gorge early in June. Which brings me to August. Yesterday, my good friend Lana and I road-tripped to Reardon, WA f...

The Johnson Family: October 2008
http://rickjohnsonfamily.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 25, 2008. If you could only see how proud he is. It's the prefect set up for the 2 of us. Posted by Rick Johnson Family. We started off at Stage Deli. We ordered a Reuben. And Turkey dinner. Very tasty, but true to a NY deli - too much to eat. We then headed down 7 th. Then Broadway to Time Square. We loved the lights, not too many people on a Tuesday night. We ended up on 45 th. And ran into the theater for Spamalot. And bought tickets for the next evenings show. Day 2 in the Big Apple!

The Johnson Family: January 2009
http://rickjohnsonfamily.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 31, 2009. Since the last time I blogged back in 2008.we've had a few additions. Introducing Ruby, our red merle Australian Shepherd puppy. She was born on Rick's birthday (is that a sign or is that a sign). She has been so much fun and is quite the sweetheart. We purchased her from the same breeder as Sadie, CTC farms in Ellensburg. They have the most beautiful dogs with superior dispositions. And smart! Just ask Rick. Her training is coming along quite nicely, if he says so himself.
