Not so grand reopening. Driftwood (friday foto finder) →. Distorted views through ice. April 2, 2015. Part of what was keeping me busy over the last few months was winter. It was a long hard winter. There was so very much ice and snow. Record-breaking quantities of snow. It’s really quite hard to reconcile this sparkling beauty with the knowledge that it was the herald of thousands of dollars worth of damage to the house. This entry was posted in life. Not so grand reopening. April 3, 2015 at 12:23 pm.

Newer posts →. December 9, 2015. A festive holiday ball that someone dropped in an icy parking lot a couple of years ago. (I’m happy to say that this year, we haven’t yet had more than a few stray flakes of snow. I know it’s coming, but I’m not ready for it yet. I’m still recovering from last winter.). So much for trying to blog daily for the month of November like I’d done the past 7 years. Not only did I drop the ball. November 26, 2015. The turkeys didn’t visit us today, which is Thanksgiving in...

Country Girl / City Girl: An End to the Great Debate

Country Girl / City Girl. An End to the Great Debate. When I was growing up I had absolutely no idea what a cranberry looked like. I never even imaged that a cran-berry was a real thing like a strawberry or a blueberry. Cranberries, in our house, came from a can in a glorious glistening lump. I loved it. I still love it. If I was a famous foodie and an interviewer asked me to name guilty pleasure foods, gelatinous canned cranberry sauce would top the list. Fresh Cranberry Relish vs. Canned Cran. And if y...

Magnolias in the rain. Kookaburra’s perch (friday foto finder: perch) →. In the rain room. April 30, 2015. A few weeks ago, I posted some photos of views through beautiful sparkling ice. Beautiful sparkling ice that was on our windows and screens and indicated that water was coming in under the roof due to ice dams. One surprisingly warm day in February, we came home from a relaxing weekend away to find that the ice was melting. Oh glory day! And then we walked into this:. And so ends April, and I did ma...

The Agrophobic Journeyman: February 2010
http://red1hols.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 09, 2010. Looking for Hope at the Ballot Box. The last week or so has seen a rise in my synaptic meanderings. Over the last couple of days, I have found myself thinking about such diverse subjects as efficiency savings for the 2012 Olympics, alternative uses for novelty pastry cutters and the upcoming general election here in the UK. Unfortunately, it means that I have sat down several times to spout forth on the joys of representation, only to find myself distracted. Depressingly, I fe...
