While waiting my reinforcements from post to come home and help me complete my 5.5’ gun Battery, I thought of making some small terrain pieces that would complement my unit. In my previous. You’ve seen some photos of the command troops that would be responsible for directing the fire of the guns, by taking coordinates from a. Forward observer and his companion radio man. I then put them side by side (no need for glue, as the pieces can bo...

You can actually glue stuff together with concrete patch! It sticks to plastic (if sanded), wood, stone, cardboard, porcelain, foam. everything but metal (even then if you sand it enough). It's best for gluing large, uneven objects (like if you want to glue rocks down to a base). It's not a replacement for superglue (don't use it for miniatures! Once cured, you c...

Friday, August 14, 2015. Multipart plastic kits have lots of mouldlines. The material is easy enough to work with, but it is bothersome to remove them all. Two steel needle files (flat and half-round) are super-useful here, and it's worth getting some good ones from a hardware store. You can check these in person to ensure that they have a good, fine, even, and sharp cutting face. When using these on metals, rub a touch of chalk or talc on them first so that they don't get gummed-up and dull. Green stuff...

Lthough historical modelers have been doing realistic weathering for many years already, fantasy and sci-fi miniature painters often lack the knowledge how to paint rust and chipped paint or other kinds of weathering. Saturday, March 8, 2014. Tutorial – The Wet Palette. Http:/ www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx? After following his instructions I had made my first wet palette. I will repeat it here. Select a small shallow plastic/glass container (I use tupperware) that has a lid that forms a tight seal, preferably airtight. To this add two layers of white paper serviettes. They have to be white with no colour at all. Otherwise when you use the palette any colour in the serviettes will show through. Add paint and enjoy.

Friday, December 20, 2013. Next, I blu-tacked the tiles onto sheets of cardboard. Note I only have a dozen or so tiles on each sheet. This is because this was the test run to check the colours ad techniques all worked and looked good. But you save more time the more tiles you stick up each time, so I'll be doing twice as many tiles at a time in future. Side, you don't want to be blowing paint back onto this finished side. So be thorough. Get the edges and sides. So now we have a sheet or sheets of tiles,...
