Back in the Day: Great Answers!
http://gawilli.blogspot.com/2007/03/great-answers.html
Back in the Day. What if no one would kill for their religion? What if armies had a bake sale for their wars? What if children of the world made world decisions and paint-by-number Jesus wasn't even hangin around anymore? Wednesday, March 21, 2007. Bravo to all of you for playing along. I had such a great time reading your guesses. Thanks for the fun! Here is the rest of the story. 1 Me: "That's cool.wonder what that is? As I take a picture. Willi knew what it was. Do you? Give it a guess. I believe a fa...

In a Perfect World | Back in the Day
https://gawilli.wordpress.com/2010/09/05/in-a-perfect-world
Back in the Day. In a Perfect World. September 5, 2010. About ten years later, John and I made our first visit to the local butcher shop, and who do you suppose was standing behind the counter? Although I didn’t make the connection, he did, and came out from behind the counter to say hello and meet John. We quickly became regular customers and got to know the other good folks that work there, but his face is always the one I look for. Then last week the driver and his parents released a video. 8220;to he...

One Man’s Trash | Back in the Day
https://gawilli.wordpress.com/2010/04/11/one-mans-trash-2
Back in the Day. One Man’s Trash. April 11, 2010. John and I carried the trash to the curb this afternoon for tomorrow’s garbage pick-up. Halfway through this post I rescued a vestige of my youth from the angry jowls of the trash compactor. It’s back in the garage, in all of its “Flower Power” and “Make Love Not Litter” glory. At least for now, this is one faded and outdated treasure I’m not ready to let go of. 8212;———————-. Billboard Top 40 Hits of 1970. 25 or 6 to 4 – Chicago (#4). All I Have To Do Is...

Back in the Day. March 2, 2010. There’s another on the way! I’ve been given the green light to share my sunshine…. Nestled safely inside that warm and comfy space is a wonderful little baby. An ultrasound today confirms that our grandberry is ten weeks old, with a nice steady heartbeat. Sarah, Mark, and Asher will welcome an addition to their family, our family, sometime around September 28th. Grace and Other Things. February 28, 2010. She was widowed at 56, 57 when I married, and just shy of her 76th bi...

Just us and the turkeys… | Back in the Day
https://gawilli.wordpress.com/2010/03/29/just-us-and-the-turkeys
Back in the Day. Just us and the turkeys…. March 29, 2010. The roads in Michigan are so well marked. Really. Every single one of them. We’ve spent two days following maps, courtesy of Trout Unlimited, outlining all of the access points on the Upper Manistee and Au Sable Rivers and haven’t gotten lost once. And that’s saying something. We drove up slowly as we saw a huge “something” on the side of the road. As we got closer it moved into the bush. We thought it was gone, but it wasn...This was almost a...

Just Like Music to My Ears | Back in the Day

Back in the Day. Just Like Music to My Ears. March 18, 2010. As we sat at the table looking over the menu, Sarah handed the smaller version of the day’s offerings to Asher. He held it up in front of his face perusing the choices as if he knew exactly what his would be. Then an older couple moved over to the table across from us and he turned and said, “Hi! 8221; The gentlemen took his hand and responded in kind, as Asher flashed those beautiful long eyelashes accompanied by a smile. What a hoot! 8221; Us...

Memorial Day 2010 | Back in the Day

Back in the Day. May 31, 2010. 8220;Wars are poor chisels for carving out peaceful tomorrows.”. Rev Martin Luther King, Jr. Here’s to my dad. He was in the 34th Infantry, Red Bull Division. They said he was not the same when he came home. How could he be? He never talked about the war, but it was with him all the time. And so it goes with the multitudes that have walked in his footsteps. And we’ll say another prayer for peace. He would have expected that, as well. Filed in Better Half. You are commenting...

Back in the Day. The ants came marching…. March 9, 2010. The ants came marching two by two, Hurrah! The ants came marching two by two. The little one stopped to tie his shoe. They all go marching down, to the earth, to get out of the rain. Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom…. 4 Responses to “The ants came marching…”. March 10, 2010 at 1:21 pm. Thoughts that Linger | Back in the Day
https://gawilli.wordpress.com/2011/01/02/thoughts-that-linger
Back in the Day. January 2, 2011. Today I will take down Christmas and pack it away for another year. At least most of it. Reluctantly. I’m one of those that starts listening to Christmas tunes around Thanksgiving and counts the days until it is socially acceptable to deck the halls. I love opening the big green tubs filled with memories of Christmas past, and finding a place in my home for them to reside for a few short weeks. And I love the warm glow of the lights. Everywhere. I will remember something...
