Dörnholzhausen ist mit 70 Einwohnern der kleinste Frankenberger Stadtteil. 1247 erstmals erwähnt, wurde Dörnholzhausen nach wechselvoller Geschichte am 31.12.1970 in die Stadt Frankenberg eingegliedert. Der Ort ist geprägt durch die Landwirtschaft und die Erzeugung erneuerbarer Energien. Auf vielen Dächern liegen Photovoltaikanlagen, zusätzlich gehören auch zwei der vier Windkraftanlagen auf der angrenzenden Erhöhung den Einwohnern. Die Grundschule Geismar ist eine einzügige Grundschule mit rund 60 Schülern, die aus Geismar, Dörnholzhausen und Haubern kommen. Der Unterrichtsvormittag dauert von 7.45 Uhr bis längstens 13.05 Uhr, ab 11.20 Uhr bis 16.00 Uhr können die Kinder die Betreuende Grundschule besuchen.
