Sun shines on the Joe Way Paddle for life 2014. This years Joe Way Paddle for life was hailed another success after an amazing turn out. This year’s event saw a footfall of over a thousand spectators for the second year running and nearly 400 paddlers of all ages and abilities taking part in the 200m, 1km fun paddle, 1km relays and the RNLI memorial cup to do their bit to raise money for some of the 20 charities now supported by the Joe Way appeal. Past and Present Fund Raising. Event raises 500 for Joe Way appeal. A comedy night at Monkey Tree Holiday Park has raised 500 for Newquay charity, the Joe Way Appeal. The October event, which saw over 100 people flock to the holiday park’s club house from all over Cornwall, featured stand-up from Cornwall's favourite comedian Johnny Cowling. This event was no exception and we’d like to thank everyone for their support, including Crantock Bakery for supplying the pasties. Girls get Tuff for Toddlers Appeal.

When Joe was born we had no reason to be concerned for his health or well being. He then contracted meningitis at a week old which we believed was the reason for his delayed development. He was eventually diagnosed with Angelmans syndrome. Despite this Joseph was a happy 3 year old. He had experienced bad health throughout his short life, but nothing compares to the horror of SJS. We were warned about the usual side effects, loss of appetite, liver problems etc, but not SJS.

Joe was born with Angelman syndrome a genetic defect which is a deletion on his chromosome 15, this in no way made his life limited. Joe had many disabilities but as parents we were able to see through these as Joe had his own individual character and this enabled us to embrace him with. Angelman syndrome, we had so much love and time to give him. Joe himself dealt with all his unique and unrelated problems with Angelman syndrome through love, laughter and a smile.
