CPD23: Once More, With Feeling. Or, Thing 5: Reflective Practice. Last year I started the 23 Things for Professional Development. Course, but got sidetracked after Thing 4. In fact, I got sidetracked from the blog entirely – I think I felt that I couldn’t post until I was ready to finish the 23 things! I’ve been thinking about this more as I am (finally) reading Char Booth’s book. Reflective Teaching, Effective Learning. I heard Char speak on this subject at a California Conference on Library Instruction.

Tips for attending ALA Annual: A Roundup | Marginalia

https://marginalian.wordpress.com/2012/06/19/tips-for-attending-ala-annual-a-roundup

Tips for attending ALA Annual: A Roundup. The ALA Annual Conference. Bobbi Newman has some excellent advice. For packing for a conference, along with tips for getting the most out of your experience, at her blog Librarian by Day. Emily Clasper shared her pinterest board. Of her essential items to bring to the ALA conference. I especially liked her tip to bring a pair of those foldable ballet flats to keep in your bag just in case your normal shoes get unbearable with all the walking you end up doing.

Marginalia | i can't believe it's not butter

I can't believe it's not butter. 8220;Shut up and Pray”. This week on Facebook, someone I care about told me to shut up and pray. It started with a post. A relative (whose posts almost always brighten my day and bring a smile to my face) shared what appears to be a chain message on his wall. I assume that it came from an email. The story was about God. Or rather, GOD. (If you are reading aloud I think you’re supposed to shout the all-caps bits). But who cares, right? Here’s the story, in full:. The profe...
