Snitches Get Stitches: Tablecloth Brumby skirt
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2015/07/tablecloth-brumby-skirt.html
Monday, July 13, 2015. I went to a wonderful wedding just gone in Norwich, and had my first experience of shape note singing - an a cappella folk hymn singing with its roots in 19th-century America. It was very moving and I loved taking part. And I wore my new Brumby Skirt for the occasion! I absolutely love the fabric, which is a thick, roughish cotton, and the print is also very dear to me. My first exposed zipper - love the look of these, but I definitely need a ton of practise. I cut a size M but the...

Snitches Get Stitches: Brumby the second
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2015/08/brumby-second.html
Sunday, August 2, 2015. I'm back with another Brumby skirt. This time I made up a Small, as the Medium even with 1" taken off was too big - this is now on the snug side, so I'm not there yet - I think next time, a S with slight smaller seam allowances will be perfect. I bought this pretty fabric from John Lewis - again, why? It's totally not the kind of colours or pattern I wear! I love the two tone print on my last Brumby - I must stick with those from now on! She's also fairly dubious about the print.

Snitches Get Stitches: September 2014
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 15, 2014. I spent Saturday sewing up a shirt with some lovely cotton shirting fabric from The Cloth House. On Berwick Street (dangerously close by.) The pattern was made up from an old Jaeger shirt, using the technique which Alice Prier. Teaches at Ray Stitch. It wasn't 100% successful - a bit massive and baggy, but that was sort of. The look I was going for! I'm really into this blue/grey with bright red buttons look! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sewing Blogs I Love.

Snitches Get Stitches: March 2015
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 8, 2015. Two pairs of strides and a curtain shirt. A little bit of soothing sewing for a hungover Sunday post! First up is a second pair of Hudson Pants. My first pair. Is the most worn item that I've made, and my mum was keen for a pair herself. She chose this lovely "Shroom" fabric from Fabric Godmother. Shroom with a view. Meanwhile the Cigarette Pants course at Sew Over It. I'm going for a sort of Marcel Marceau thing here. I was happy with these as a practical success, but I'm not sure...

Snitches Get Stitches: June 2015
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 7, 2015. Was one of the first sewing blogs I found when I started sewing. I love her style, the patterns she choses, the way she wears them and talks about them. I have a lot. Of patterns she's made on my Pinterest board of desire. One of my favourite dresses of hers is her purple Simplicity 1880. And Sallie's made another beautiful version here. I had the pattern for a few months before getting round to it last week. So I did the same, and very helpful it was too! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Snitches Get Stitches: A-Frame skirt and block printing action
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-frame-skirt-and-block-printing-action.html
Sunday, August 9, 2015. A-Frame skirt and block printing action. This is the A-Frame Skirt. By Blueprints for Sewing. A site I only found about a week ago and which I've been really enjoying. (I came to it through Beyond Measure. Another new-to-me and super blog. Where will it all end? I loved the samples of this skirt on the site, and the possibilities for colour blocking. I chose the A-line version 2, and cut it out in one evening and then sewed it up in a couple of hours. Which seems a great UK-based ...

Snitches Get Stitches: August 2014
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 19, 2014. My keenness on sewing continues, and this was my latest project! A couple of weeks ago I went to a one-day class at Ray Stitch. Taught by the very talented Alice Prier. The class was called Recreate Your Favourite Garment, and I brought along a dress I love, and a midi skirt in case the dress was too difficult. I think it was the buttons and the neckline shape that I liked the most, and wanted to copy. Almost there - just need some arms. And I made a belt too, to solve the billo...

Snitches Get Stitches: November 2014
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 20, 2014. Still working to finish up this book - it will be done by the middle of next week, and then onto new things! Partly trying to get some more stuff together to sell at Hifest. In the meantime, I've been carrying on the sewing. First up is the Miette blouse. From Tilly and the Buttons. I made this for my mum, but in the end a blue shirt I'd made was a better match for her. Back, with buttons from Mum's button box! Sewing stretch cotton - pretty forgiving. Sewing Blogs I Love.

Monday, February 9, 2015. Fabric Design competition shortlist! My fairies fabric design has made the shortlist of the By Hand London fabric design competition! By Hand London are a really super indie pattern company who are now printing their own fabrics too. Their Anna Dress is one of my favourite patterns I've made so far. Snitches Get Stitches: Skater dress and tuxedo jacket
http://snitches-get-stitches.blogspot.com/2015/07/skater-dress-and-tuxedo-jacket.html
Thursday, July 23, 2015. Skater dress and tuxedo jacket. I've been thinking a lot about fabric block printing and painting lately. I'm very inspired by pretty much everything that Marilla Walker. Makes and sews - wonderful fabric combined with a super and original style aesthetic. I'm always excited when she's done a new blogpost - what did I do before sewing blogs? I thought the bodice of the By Hand London Anna dress. I'm dreaming lots about a black and white sailor style dress next. I thought the patt...
