The simple truth is that actually it is the French for mint cream and the name is used for sweets as well as for an intoxicating beverage. It is a tin for such sweets that we have adorning a kitchen shelf in the museum. Crème de menthe tin at Market Lavington Museum. The tin dates from around 1911. The sweets certainly won prizes at Turin in 1911. The tin tells us so. From your own site.

In about 1960 children were entertaining at the fête at Clyffe Hall by doing some country dancing. This photo was given to the museum by Mrs Elisha. Laquo; A half sovereign. Until now we have relied on a rather clunky but lovely thermohygrograph to keep a track on the temperature and humidity in the museum. One box of tricks, with specially purchased and expensive graph paper wrapped round a drum, has been kept in one room of the museum. It was large, but I have to say we rather liked it. It is thanks to these little beauties. Four USB environmental monitors. Here we see a graph from a few days of trial for the upstairs device. From your own site.

December 25, 2016. This was the third Christmas of the First World War. People on both sides of the war were away from home, suffering hardships, injury and of course, in some cases, death.
