Welcome to my website. I have been making pots in Culmington, Shropshire since 1983. Both the old village school and the pots have undergone many changes in that time. The garden was designed by Simon Dorrell in 2001 - Simon designed the fabulous gardens at Hampton Court in Herefordshire and also commissioned me to make the hundreds of large terracotta garden pots that he needed for this new formal garden. At Culmington every trace of the old garden was destroyed and a new plan laid out. Apart from help from the best digger driver in the world, I undertook all the hard landscaping and planting through 2002/3.

Alex Matisse: July 2009
http://alexmatisse.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 17, 2009. I just found an old issue of the Sun from back in January. It is a great literary publication. In it I stumbled upon and advice column by a man named Cary Tennis. He writes this column "Since You Asked". Of him reading a piece at a workshop in San Fransisco. I think that it speaks to art makers as a whole and not just to writers. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thursday, July 09, 2009. I made at Matt's a little over a year ago. I started the slip trailing on the size up f...

http://alexmatisse.blogspot.com/2010/08/week-or-two-in-review.html
Thursday, August 05, 2010. A Week (or two) in Review. I have not been a diligent blogger. I actually cringe at that title. I don't consider myself a blogger. I consider myself a potter (at this exact moment in time a kiln builder) and so it is without a tremendous amount of guilt that I am bringing everyone up to date. There has been an amazing amount of people out here as of late and we really have made some progress. Wednesday Dan in I finished up the arch supports. Coming up in blogland:. Rob, Simple ...

Monday, February 23, 2009. Last night I did the midnight shift. The whole time I was struggling to get rise and keep it in enough reduction so the pots didn't come out all pasty. Friday, August 06, 2010. Working from 5 till 9 . . . That is not how the original went but it is much closer to what my days look at this present time.
