https://markplancaster.wordpress.com/2010/05
Archive for May, 2010. May 9, 2010. At the start I found going back into education a struggle after being out of the education system for around 5 years but I soon got back into it and learned all the rules and procedures. I was quickly presented with an assignment which involved interviewing local web designers and finding out about the industry. At first the thought of this I found extremely frightening, but once I had conducted the first interview I found it was not so bad after all. At this point I t...

Archive for February, 2010. February 21, 2010. When I first looked at the sculpture In The Mind Of Monk by Peter Randall Page. My mind went completely blank. The thought of having to write a 400 word blog post about something that looked just like 3 round balls was quite a scary thought. The 3 sculptures all together. Upclose shot of the sculpture showing the pattern. 3 Sculptures in a row. I did wonder if there was something I was missing when looking at them or because it was my first time looking at s...

Archive for March, 2010. Digital Imaging vs Web Development. March 14, 2010. I have just handed in my Digital Imaging and Web Development 1 assignment and it feels as though a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Having 2 big assignments running along side each other and having to manage my time effectively to make sure everything gets done for them both has been really hard work. As I used the software more I found it was getting easier to use and was even able to follow some tutorials and create im...

Archive for March, 2011. March 30, 2011. Following on from my last post to create an effective portfolio for my work the next task was to look at other professionals that I would class as competition. After searching the Internet and looking at various portfolio sites I came across Mark Petherbridge. My first impression of the site was that it was clean and modern, neatly laid out and followed a consistent theme. The navigation was easy to find and use and the site used a four column layout throughout.

Archive for November, 2009. Where I am going. November 30, 2009. I have many ambitions for where I would like to be in the near future. Some are more important to me than others but my aim would be to achieve them all in the near future. The main goal I am aiming to achieve at the moment is to pass the FdA Web Design. By doing the top up to a degree level I am hoping it will provide me with more in depth skills and that will improve my chances of gaining employment into the web design industry. After gai...

Its taken me nearly ten years since leaving school to find a career path that I believe will set me up for the foreseeable future. Can I remember ever wanting to be a web or graphic designer? The honest answer, no. Have there been events in my life that have brought me to this point, most definitely. 1 Comment ». Wrote @ October 20, 2010 at 10:45 am. Hi, I'm Alan. I a...

Reflective Journal FdA Web Design University Centre Wakefield. Where I am now. November 11, 2010 at 12:30 am · Filed under PPD1. Well, its been two months and I am still here. I’m excited about the work we are doing and I am just about coping with the workloads from both my freelance work and the course assignments. I have never done a course in design before and the skills that I have were self taught as and when I needed them. I have always had an understanding of computers and software and believe...

Reflective Journal FdA Web Design University Centre Wakefield. Archive for October, 2010. Where I Have Come From. So how did I get here? Walking up to the classroom door on my first day I felt so excited about what was in store. It was an exhilarating feeling but also somewhat scary, being 30 years old. Maybe I wouldn’t fit in or maybe it’s true what they say and you can’t teach old dogs new tricks. I remember vividly how I felt when I told my parents I was quitting, it was such a hard thing to say to th...

HND Interactive Media, Wakefield College. Tuesday, 22 September 2009. Start of the Second Year. Despite having quite a long summer break it seemed that it has gone by in a flash, and on the first day back at college as a second year student everything felt very familiar. It was certainly a lot more comfortable than the introductions at the beginning of the first year. For the final two assignments of the first year: A1 Sketchblog. I was pleased to find that I had improved on my grades compared to previous.

HND Interactive Media, Wakefield College. Wednesday, 21 January 2009. Ding Dong - End of Round One! This semester break allows us the chance to look back over and reflect on the first semester. For me, one of the most noticeable. Things is my growing confidence in my (potential) abilities in both the graphic design and the technical aspects of the course. Its true that we haven't quite started on the most technical aspects, such as writing in XHTML. My familiarity with some of the industry standard softw...

Luke Patrick Crossfield's Online Learning Journal. Talking about my experiences on the FdA Web Design course. May 9, 2010. My first year has consisted of many different feelings and emotions. One day I would be happy and the other I would be stressed out with the amount of work hoping to pass the units. I have also learnt a lot about myself as a person and I feel it has made me more independent in all aspects of my life. Posted in FdA Web Design. April 18, 2010. Posted in FdA Web Design. I finally have a design. April 27, 2011. After looking at my ideas and designs in the seminar group, the people in the group thought I had some good ideas. But after leaving the meeting and getting home I decided it was time to start again. I sent my proposed design to a couple of people in my group and asked them for their honest opinion. The feedback I received was that they both really liked the idea and suggested a few things that I could do to improve it. Posted in FdA Web Design. April 6, 2011.
