Tara's Ethiopian Adventure: A Dog Bite Adventure...
http://tarasethiopianadventure.blogspot.com/2010/11/dog-bite-adventure.html
Now available as a book! Reflections of a Vo. Tuesday, 9 November 2010. A Dog Bite Adventure. I had grand plans if getting loads done at work on Thursday but they were dashed when I was attacked by my landlord's dog. Not content with the bone it was chewing on it took a running leap at my arm! It was all quite scary and gorey. At the time but looking back on the events that followed it turned out to be quite an adventure and gave me a little insight into 'good' medical care in Ethiopia! SoI survived by f...

Tara's Ethiopian Adventure: July 2010
http://tarasethiopianadventure.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Now available as a book! Reflections of a Vo. Thursday, 29 July 2010. Summer to november in 25 hours. I just returned to Ethiopia after 5 weeks of almost perpetual sunshine in England. It was amazing! Soon enough I was packing up and heading back to Ethiopia. I left my parents house at about 8.30am (BST) on a lovely sunny Sunday morning and arrived in Addis (after an 8 hour transit in Dubai) around 9.30am (BST) to a wet and miserable Monday morning in Addis. Welcome to Africa! Glad to be back. Because of...

Tara's Ethiopian Adventure: August 2010
http://tarasethiopianadventure.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Now available as a book! Reflections of a Vo. Wednesday, 25 August 2010. Wading through rivers to buy candles. Last night I got into the house just in time (or so I thought). No sooner had a shut the door but the heavens opened and the most incredible rainstorm began. It was the kind of rain that would knock you sideways if you stand in it! But the good news was I made it! Saturday, 14 August 2010. Fantastic Trek in Tigray. I am so impressed with the way that TESFA has set up this community based trekkin...

Tara's Ethiopian Adventure: Feeling at home...
http://tarasethiopianadventure.blogspot.com/2010/10/fw-feeling-at-home.html
Now available as a book! Reflections of a Vo. Friday, 15 October 2010. It was one of those once in a life time experiences and yet it didn't 'strike me' as anything unusual or new to share on my blog. A week later a number of us had a fantastic weekend in Addis.on Saturday night we danced away to a friend's band. The name of their band is almost as cool as the music they play. They are called ' Ishi, Baka, Chow'. We were also joined by Megan and Miriam (Addis Vols) and the six of us enjoyed mixing with t...

Tara's Ethiopian Adventure: December 2010
http://tarasethiopianadventure.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Now available as a book! Reflections of a Vo. Monday, 27 December 2010. The Story of the Lost and Found Sheep. No celebration in Ethiopia would be complete without a slaughtered sheep or goat! It seems that there was a bit of miscommunication at the staff lounge and the catering people had mistaken it for their's and it had already been cooked and served! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tara's Ethiopian Adventure: Jambo Ambo
http://tarasethiopianadventure.blogspot.com/2010/10/jambo-ambo.html
Now available as a book! Reflections of a Vo. Friday, 15 October 2010. We had a very silly experience the other lunch time at a local bar/cafe. All we wanted was 2 Ambo (local mineral water) and a tagabino (local spicey chickpea paste served with ingera) to share.however.due to some spectacular miscommunication it seemed the establishment thought we were impatient and rather indecisive alcoholics! This is how the situation unfolded. Me: Hulet Ambowa afalegalu. I would like two Ambo]. Where is my ambo?

Tara's Ethiopian Adventure: November 2010
http://tarasethiopianadventure.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Now available as a book! Reflections of a Vo. Tuesday, 23 November 2010. Two days later and I am still recovering. I feel nauseous, dizzy, my head hurts and my legs only seem capable of an awkward hobble at the moment. On top of this I'm being teased by my Ethiopian Colleagues for my shockingly slow time (90minutes exactly). They reckon they could walk faster! The sad thing is they are probably right! Despite all this, I am really glad I did it. I definitely think it was worth it. This was in reference t...

Tara's Ethiopian Adventure: readjusting...
http://tarasethiopianadventure.blogspot.com/2011/01/readjusting.html
Now available as a book! Reflections of a Vo. Wednesday, 5 January 2011. I was missing the 'noise' of Ethiopia: The people chattering excitedly in Oromifa or Amharic on the streets, the endless 'greetings', smiles and friendly 'hellos' from strangers and friends, the music shops blasting out Ethiopian tunes. England just felt so sterile and dull. Strangers smiled at one another and the world seemed happy again! Perhaps England is not so bad afterall! 7 January 2012 at 01:30. 9 January 2012 at 22:03.
