marshfield school of weaving: April Showers bring….Dosia and a few others back!

http://marshfieldschoolofweaving.blogspot.com/2015/05/april-showers-bringdosia-and-few-others.html

Marshfield school of weaving. Saturday, May 23, 2015. April Showers bring….Dosia and a few others back! Our VT. Folklife grantee, Joann Darling, was also back to continue her work with linen and this months projects were to feature natural dyed yarn in the warp and weft. Her second project of using a 30/1 linen was truly a labor of love and though not without a few broken ends, yielded a beautiful end product. Now on to May and we'll see what warmer weather brings. Dosia painting her new cotton warp.

Marshfield school of weaving. Wednesday, September 10, 2014. Summer 2014 - New faces and old faces! What a summer this has been! To round off the summer we had our former student from Ottawa, Canada - Bob Clark - return for three weeks to weave a summer winter project. And then there was Zoe but we'll devote a whole blog to her work this summer! Judy Fox making her warp for a throw. Judy and Kathy with their finished throws. Sarah Severns beaming on her warp for an overshot rug. The rug in progress.

marshfield school of weaving: June 2014

Marshfield school of weaving. Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Rugs, Rugs and More Rugs! And last but not least, Hannah Flor, from Brooklyn, NY wove as her second project of the week, a 4 block rep weave rug. We used a new yarn for her rug and there was a slight faux pas in that we mistakenly set the yarn too close so half of the background color had to be taken out! The finished rug was beautiful in the end of the day but it was quite a sight during the weaving of it. Robin starting the ikat ties.

Once the color is approved in the woven sample we can then forge ahead with making the warp. Here is Lynnette winding spools from the dyed skeins using an umbrella swift and a walking wheel.
