Gigs, dance, art. May 13th, 2011: Anmitsu. I know that the acoustics are sub-par, but I’m glad I didn’t let that keep me away from this gig. I’ve had mixed feelings about the recent Tsugaru Shamisen hype, mostly because I don’t like Yoshida Brothers all that much. It’s OK sound-wise, but kinda bland in my opinion. Anmitsu. Are the real thing and the perfect antidote to that. June 13, 2011. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:. There a...

Gigs, dance, art. September 12th, 2012: Sébastien Ramirez / Honji Wang – Monchichi. Now that’s what I want to see. A wonderful show, where for a change even the words didn’t disturb me, because they were just adding to what the dance had made clear by then. To me they went beyond that, they grew from them, and isn’t that what roots are for? September 26, 2012. 2 Comments ». I would like to know aout the music of Monchichi. thanks. April 20, 2013 Reply. Gigs, dance, art. September 11th, 2012: Thierry Thieû Niang – Jean-Pierre Moulières – …du printemps! Théatre de la ville. Not so much as an appropriation, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Nudity is a tired trope in dance, but why are those people shocked at seeing seniors almost naked? September 26, 2012. Théatre de la ville. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Gigs, dance, art. May 5th, 2011: Steve Coleman and Five Elements. Cité de la musique. No drummer this time, the piano (David Virelles) and guitar (Miles Okazaki) were in charge of the rhythm section. I like percussive piano, so that was fine by me. I really like what Steve Coleman does, and I’m most fond of Jen Shyu and Jonathan Finlayson in this lineup, so I was well within my comfort zone despite the changes — I’m not sure that’s a good thing though.
