http://martialnews-russianmartialarts.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Friday, 29 June 2012. I am happy to say I was invited here to write a blog; it is an honour for me to write my thoughts and for you sportsmen and women to read them. First I will run through things I have trained in, some to lesser or greater extent. I should add I have been active for 38 years, I am now aged 46. I began in a type of karate/kung fu called Kong Chang in the 70’s. I then trained in Japanese ju-jitsu and kick boxing. Before I knew where I was I found myself in Russia training and competing&...

Russian Martial Arts: May 2013
http://martialnews-russianmartialarts.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Monday, 20 May 2013. The fight for my life. To start I must apologise for my long, long absence. I will tell you the story and how it relates to my beloved Russian All-Round Fighting…. It got to 31st December with no lessoning of the pain, so an operation was decided upon and overnight a six hour operation freed all the adhesions. That evening, and I will spare the details in full, after I strained my stomach to vomit a 40cm scar sealed with staples burst open, with contents bursting out! Shortly after, ...

Black Belt Adventure...: When is a dojo not a dojo?
http://martialnews-blackbeltadventure.blogspot.com/2013/02/when-is-dojo-not-dojo.html
Tuesday, 5 February 2013. When is a dojo not a dojo? 8230;…when it’s a club. I used to think that a dojo was simply the place where you did your training, whether that is a dedicated traditional dojo, a school gym, purpose built training centre or your own basement or garage. However, it seems that a dojo is much more than just the place you train. A “spirited assault” involves a lot of hard, physical training, self examination and reflection as well as personal reading and research. Sue is the Blog-Edit...

Sambo Talk...: October 2012
http://martialnews-onsambo.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 16 October 2012. In the early 1980’s I became very interested in creating the Ultimate Martial Arts Competition system. My reasoning was that if I put together a lot of Martial Arts I would create something unique and the name I came up with for this was Shiai Jutsu meaning the Competitive Art. While I was starting this all up I came across Jiu Jitsu Master Trevor Roberts 8. So what of the future? For more information on Sambo visit: http:/ www.britishsombo.co.uk. Links to this post. Black Belt Adventure...: March 2013

Friday, 1 March 2013. One body, two minds. We often talk about the practice of budo but what exactly is budo and what is its purpose? My current understanding of budo is this:. Ego is an interesting concept; it has several definitions related to the human psyche and I think that only one of them is relevant to the subject of budo. Ego is defined as: The self, especially as distinct from the world and other selves. Pride in oneself; self-esteem. What’s wrong with egotism? While your ego is busy controllin...
