Just an update for anyone reading my web page. After the dyno of the new engine and having proved my build was good(! I decided to wait till the winter too swap it. The summer has been good so far and I don't want to waste the driving days, so the RV8 stays in till about October or November. RV8 Engine for sale. Rover 3.5 SD1 engine. V8 Development Stage 3 big valve replacement heads (10 bolt). All bolts ARP Stainless. GD Stainless Steel Headers (if Required). LT77 Gearbox (reconditioned and strengthened). Everything you see on the engine (apart from the Cobra AirFilter) will go with the engine. I am looking for 2500.00 ono. Can't do much more on the engine at the moment. Not going to buy the carb until the engine is in the chassis (and I have save a bit of money for a Weber 500! Time to look at the Gearbox! As you can see below, the gearbox was in no better state that the engine so first and foremost I had to get through some of the grease and grunge! I took the Bell Housing off and the remote setup. To go with the manifold, I purchased (from Summit) a stainless steel thermostat housing and a 180 degree high flow thermostat. After fitting the manifold I fitted the thermostat and housing using the gasket provided and a coating of Blue Hylomar which I have used successfully in the past for this application. A major headache that I had to overcome was selecting the correct pulley set. I had taken the lead from Andy Roe. Dyno at last on the new engine! Turned up bright and early to the test station in Nottingham for an 8.30 test. I took Alan Daubney with me for moral support (! The first fright was that the examiner was being tested himself by a senior guy from Derby. This meant that he was going to stick to the letter of the law on his sheet. Alan and I jumped in the car and shot off before he changed his mind! Oh, and this evening, I couldn't resist, so I put on the spinners, wind wings, side grills etc etc.well you have too don't you? Wednesday, 28 July 2010. You can see from the previous post that it was roughly routed in when the prop went in, now its time to fix it. To mount the hose I used clips, longer bolts and some section of 8mm tube. Job done. Oh and Ive fitted the hard line adapter as well, so much easier with the right one!

And then to something much more modern, its not a GD and it has side pipes but I kind of like the look of this car. Maybe traditional is best though.
