PAME IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS: August 2008

Monday, 25 August 2008. The Proper Classroom for Proper Students. What does she think about Frank's room and about the proper students? I think Rita is a very good observer. From the very beginning she is walking around and meticulously exploring Frank's room. She considers the room to be tasteful, with everything in the right place, and at the same time a mess. A perfect mess. Possessing a hungry mind is not, in itself, a guarantee of success.'. Wednesday, 13 August 2008. Why does Rita want to study?

PAME IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS: The Great Pretender
http://pamelamesquida.blogspot.com/2008/11/great-pretender.html
Monday, 10 November 2008. Working as a hairdresser the only thing Rita should care about were details. Pure vanity and external appearance, which she considers an irrelevant issue for life - actually "irrelevant rubbish.". She cannot stand this idea of making "Beauty" the most important thing of life. It doesn't fill her as a human, because she is passionate, she is open to other things - to important and spiritual matters which really make her life. What is essential is invisible to the eye". Yes Pam...

PAME IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS: September 2008

Sunday, 21 September 2008. Be dead Boring. or be dead Excitin'. What words does Rita use to express her enthusiasm for. I thought it was gonna be dead borin'.". But Listen, it wasn't borin',. It was bleedin' great, honest, ogh, it done me in, it was fantastic. It was dead good. I just thought it was a. Could she use these words in an essay? Of course she cannot use these words (read above) in the essay. This is colloquial language and she should use formal language do an essay. Friday, 5 September 2008.

my_thoughts: Moving on
http://miriam-mythoughts.blogspot.com/2008/10/moving-on.html
Friday, 17 October 2008. I was one told by my psychologist that when we want something to change, it’s us who should start changing because that will inevitably produce changes, not only on ourselves but also on the people around us. How authentic is Rita's "change", Miru? Whose "laws" is she living by at this stage? What books does she now think good? Who is she listening to? Is there actually much difference between living the way our parents expected us to and living the way our friends expect us to?

PAME IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS: What kind of Fish are you? An Educated Swimming Cow!
http://pamelamesquida.blogspot.com/2008/11/what-kind-of-fish-are-you-educated.html
Friday, 14 November 2008. What kind of Fish are you? An Educated Swimming Cow! In what way is Educating Rita a play about the clash of class and culture? Reflecting upon this question makes me remember about a lot of stories with a similar purpuse. All the soap operas by Thalia, some similar Disney's stories, also Chavo's version and so on. That is to say, all different cultures are valuable and you and any person belonging to any of this different cultures is eucated in that culture. Education, and cult...

Friday, 25 April 2008. Nowadays teenagers seem to be incapable of setting their priorities rationally. They resemble Esaú, the hunter, and Kane, the businessman, in the sense that they apparently know what their aim is. However, teenagers, unlike Esaú and Kane, are not willing to make sacrifices to achieve their goals. Links to this post. Friday, 18 April 2008. Do as we please? As far as I am concerned we must question whoever it is, even ourselves, before acting. Will human beings ever be ready to live ...

Thursday, 30 October 2008. A letter to Mr. Burgess. Dear Mr. Burgess,. I am writing this letter to tell you how I felt during your classes this year, and how I feel now that I have been able to pass my proficiency level exam. I now know that I have grown up and I think next year, if we are not lucky enough to have you again as our teacher, we will keep on working hard to learn more things. I will never forget you. You have been a really good teacher. Hope to hear from you soon. Links to this post. All th...

Thursday, 26 June 2008. When teaching or doing any other job. After this first term, I finally got to the end of Savater´s book, which, I must confess, has made me think about a lot of things, in particular, about the relationship between ethics and the condition of being human. What does it mean to live ethically? What is it that I do when I don’t respect other human beings? Why take care of not only ourselves but also our planet? Links to this post. Monday, 23 June 2008. The Art of Teaching. I think on...

Monday, 31 March 2008. Never judge a book by its cover! I have recently started reading a very pragmatic book: “Ethics for Amador” by Fernando Savater. In the prologue, Savater tells his son Amador, among other things, he wants them both to profit from this reading-writing experience, and adds he has decided to write his thoughts on paper since he believes his child will feel much more relaxed to react, not having to put up with never-ending adults speech.
