The Website of Matt Osgood. A collection of writing. April 29, 2015. A Day in the Life. Most of the time they completely screw it up. Or so I thought. In working at home, I’ll be able to introduce our daughter to classic albums (we’re currently big Astral Weeks. What’s the saying about having to explain a joke? Anyway, here’s the Khumbu Icefall (read a book, dummies! Hard to get jokes. Other kids being assholes. Laquo; Previous post. Next post ». One response to “A Day in the Life”. You are commenting us...
Refusing to Believe Pats’ Success is a Mistake | The Website of Matt Osgood

The Website of Matt Osgood. A collection of writing. January 30, 2015. Refusing to Believe Pats’ Success is a Mistake. That being said, my leanings swayed for good when Robert Kraft bought the team. Drew Bledsoe was the #1 pick, the logo was changed, and Bill Parcells was coming on as a coach. Optimism reigned and the Patriots would be playing on television. Access is important. You can’t root for a team you can’t watch play. It does fandom a disservice. Of all the Patriots transgressions and history...

The Website of Matt Osgood. A collection of writing. October 26, 2016. On the Barstool Sports network of podcasts, there is a podcast called The Podfather, which is three of their staff writers, who have children discussing what I think to be an under-represented form of media: fatherhood. After the first kid, you’re like, “Hell yea, I can do that again.” Then you do it again and think, “What the F was I thinking? This is NOTHING like the last time. Where are the chips? Where is the sleeping in? Look, I&...
What’s in a name? | The Website of Matt Osgood
https://matthewmosgood.wordpress.com/2014/06/19/whats-in-a-name
The Website of Matt Osgood. A collection of writing. June 19, 2014. What’s in a name? As with most pivotal moments in popular culture, the entire situation comes down to opinions, which is good in some hard-to-define way. We’re entitled to our opinions by the Constitution and, more than that, we’re allowed to have opinions because it’d be a dick move if we weren’t. And if we all agreed on everything, there’d be no such thing as opinions, just facts piled up on a pretty boring landscape. There’d be a stan...
Madness of March | The Website of Matt Osgood
https://matthewmosgood.wordpress.com/2015/03/23/madness-of-march
The Website of Matt Osgood. A collection of writing. March 23, 2015. College basketball fans are unified in what they don’t know. That’s what makes this tournament, in which a field of 68 can be reduced to 16 in a matter of a maddeningly exciting weekend, the most compelling sports programming of the year. And so we know, but we don’t. It’s why we root for David, but why we bet on Goliath. John Calipari is the coach at Kentucky, the favorites to win the NCAA title. Same Old Same Old. I’m excited about cider | Beer Hobo

Words and photos from the road. I’m excited about cider. January 28, 2014. Middot; by Heather Vandenengel. Middot; in Uncategorized. Middot; 3 Comments. I don’t think I’m about to quit everything to open up a cider operation anytime soon, but I do think a nice little cider house and bar selling cider donuts and apple butter year-round would do quite nicely. Let me know if there are any takers. Also, Chicago–I’m pretty jealous of your two new cider bars. Proximity to Virtue Cider. Mmmm, cider donuts.

The Morton Family
Saturday, October 31, 2009. Saturday, August 08, 2009. Phineas had a check up with the surgeon on Tuesday! It went really well. He is doing so well that we are able to start weaning his dilations. Hopefully by the time he is 15 months we should be finished with dilations. We are so thankful that he is doing so well. Here are some pictures of the haircut, climbing and did I forget to mention that we let Phineas lick Ben's doughnut the other morning. He loved it! Having doughnuts with Dad! I know it has be...

Miss D, Slough. Miss M M, Gloucester. Mark and Kate, Hove. Miss L R, Sussex. Email: eric@matthewmorton.co.uk. Buying a property can be the biggest decision made in our lives. It is for this very reason that impartial advice is critical from qualified advisers. Quite often you hear ‘it could never happen to me’ or ‘I’ll sort it out later’. Well the old maxim of failing to plan is planning to fail is no better suited to the ignoring of crucial decisions on protection. Welcome to Matthew Morton and Co.

I work at the University at Albany, and my research explores the intersection of practical and theoretical reason. My dissertation, for example, argued that understanding ourselves as rational creatures requires a variety of distinct models, which cannot be nicely welded together to form a single coherent picture of ourselves as rational agents. My forthcoming article in the Canadian Journal of Philosophy. When I am not doing philosophy, I spend my time with my bright-eyed daughter and amazing spouse.
