DomoDomo@INSEAD: October 2006

Tuesday, October 31, 2006. This week marks the post-break re-opening week. Some people are tanned from 4 days surfing in Portugal, some are excited from 4 days in Barcelona, and some just got home or visited France with friends and family -everyone is so tired from the break. One tradition is to prepare CanAm name tags for each MBA participant. It becomes funny when 1/ the new name is funny, and 2/ when Professors call us with our new names. So far, I have had the following classes. Managerial Accounting...

Saturday, March 31, 2007. On Hidden Champions and Team forming. I like the reading about Hidden Champions. These are companies which are small, but with specific skills. They usually come from old unfashionable industries. With some regional/national/sectorial dominant position. Http:/ www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/04 04/b3867601.htm. DomoDomo@INSEAD: August 2006

Sunday, August 20, 2006. Week 0: Business Foundations Programme. I have just completed the Business Foundations Programme at INSEAD. That took place on campus, from August 13 to 19. Financial Accounting Professor Jake Cohen was in charge of the module; he announced 66 participants in Fontainebleau, and 30-something in Singapore, which I think is quite a good number. The classes were: Financial Accounting, Finance, and Quantitative Methods. 1 Financial Accounting, Professor Jake Cohen. You don't need pre-...

Thursday, November 30, 2006. How far can un-PC go? This week is the Heart of Europe Week. A great event, as you can guess superbly organised by German, Swiss, and Austrian participants. I mean, like it or not, that generation of top managers in Europe is just like this. Some girls did leave the Amphi, presumably offended by some jokes. Will INSEAD succumb to political correctness as well? With fewer experience than yours. Did not like it, and felt offended. How arrogant is that? You do an excellent job p...

DomoDomo@INSEAD: September 2006

Friday, September 29, 2006. Singapore, Philly, and another exam next week. This week, Dean Antonio Fatas introduced us to the campus exchange programme. It is quite early, but decisions will have be taken within 2 weeks already. First deadline is next week: Wharton application. I'll decide as well whether going to Singapore in P3 or not. Week-end's programme: INSEAD fellow's birthday party in Paris, and revisions for quiz. I'll miss the Sex and Rock'n'Roll party :-(. Yesterday, we all went to Fonty's BAK...

DomoDomo@INSEAD: December 2006

Monday, December 25, 2006. A Merry Christmas, and a Happy Year 2007. Before I can really relax, I still have my professional assignments to complete (see previous post). First one down: I have recommended to change the current Manager, interviewed and turned down the applicant, and provided guidelines/profile/deadlines for recruitment of a new Manager. My blogger anonymity will be tested too, as some electives are not very crowded. I'll need to be astute on this! For now, let's enjoy the remaining days o...

Sunday, July 30, 2006. Farewell Parties Part 2. On Thursday I had the Farewell cocktail party with my employees. To cut a long story short, 4 years ago I launched a family business in which I recruited 20 co-workers. Anyway, it's good to have such a sense of self-realization, self-fulfillment, sometimes. The employees got together to buy me a very nice pen. The link to my present location is that the pen has a pearl on its cap, which I found interesting. I was moved by this gesture. Then we had a St-Juli...

DomoDomo@INSEAD: February 2007
http://domodomo74.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 28, 2007. It's over. It was superb. Spirit is great. Kind of top notch fusion cuisine: modern, audacious, international. New people met from Singapore were brilliant. New people met from Fonty (there were a lot, for me) -why didn't I meet them before? Week-end trips were much fun. Can Fonty P4 top that? Don't miss out the next episodes of your dedicated insider, and you'll know. Thanks for coming, hope it helps in your decision to apply for an MBA, your choice of School. Awesome stuff...

Monday, April 30, 2007. Street Lessons of Management. Even before BBI starts, Indian streets are full of life lessons. Actually, 2 courses seems to be in favour over here: the street version of Negotiations, and the street version of SCB (Shaping Consumer Behaviour). Meet the Yogi. Just out of Imperial Hotel in Delhi, he selects his potential targets. Me for instance. And I must add that I wore a great Blue t-shirt that day, and that 7 obviously is the middle option.
