MBA the nonprofit way. MBA nonprofit work =? August 23, 2014. My Q&A with Accepted.com (and letting go of anonymity). School at Johnson is now in full swing, and I can confirm that what everyone says about bschool is true: There just aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything you want to do. I thought I could still maintain some semblance of normalcy once school started, but no. EVERYTHING has changed! Before I link to the profile with my real name on it, let me ask you a question: Have you ever fal...

MBA the nonprofit way. MBA nonprofit work =? May 9, 2014. The horror that is the “Personal” section of the MBA resume. I just finished drafting my resume in the Johnson format. Besides the utter torture it was to format it in 11 pt Times New Roman in a Word doc using. I work on the side as a freelance graphic designer; I haven’t had my resume in Word since 2003), the worst part, by far, was figuring out what to put in that dreaded “Personal” section at the bottom. Avid golfer; current 8 handicap. I thoug...

MBA the nonprofit way. MBA nonprofit work =? Daily Archives: May 13, 2014. May 13, 2014. Business book bites: “How to Win Friends and Influence People”. How to Win Friends and Influence People. This is one of those classic books that you can’t regret spending the time consuming even if you don’t think it’s that helpful. It’s a cultural phenomenon! The book doesn’t have any earth-shattering information in it (maybe it did when it came out back in 1937? Don’t criticize others; praise often. My favorite par...

Sarah's mba journey. Outlining my journey to applying to business school. June 11, 2014. Dsylexia one year on. I’ve wanted to write a post on my blog about how I’m managing my dyslexia and stress 12 months on. But I needed to wait until I had a couple of incidents to report. I’m now also really sensitive how I take in information, it’s very easy for for me to get information overload. I also find it more difficult to shut out multiple voices. My brain overloaded on a training course when I was gettin...

A journey to getting an MBA, relocating overseas, raising a family and enjoying the ride. Let’s put the finishing touches…. I recently had my Skype interview with a second-year student and I wanted to thank. For her very valuable post. Because it turned out I got pretty much the same questions. It looks like Anderson has a very standardized interview process, which I find fair for all applicants. He had only access to my résumé, which he looked at to keep track of what I was saying. Overall it gave me a ...

A journey to getting an MBA, relocating overseas, raising a family and enjoying the ride. 1 Cleaned my desk at work and patiently removed every trace of blu-tac on the wall. And I’m not coming back, except for my farewell party on Tuesday. Feels wonderful. 2 Reviewing my notes for my coming interview with a Haas alumni. I anticipate that it will feel weird to speak English with another person who shares the same native language, but well, rules are rules. 3 My one little word. How and why did I get in?

A journey to getting an MBA, relocating overseas, raising a family and enjoying the ride. Interview reports →. Let’s put the finishing touches…. I just came back from a 10 day vacation in The Carribean and it’s now time to prepare for the last steps of my applications. I can’t believe the wait is nearly over. No news from Haas yet, but my application just went “under review” on 11/8 only. I guess I still stand a chance and I just need to be patient. Good luck to all R1 applicants! Good luck with GSB!
