The highlight of Manaus is the beautiful Teatro Amazonas, a big Opera house that was built in 1896 with a colourful tiled dome. Opera and Amazon are two words I never expected to hear in the same sentence. We also swam with Pink Dolphins in the river, which was an incredible experience! My climactic experiences came full circle in Switzerland when I was greeted by snow for the first time on my trip. Thanks to a significant amount of prodding from Mom and Minju, I broke down and bought a winter jacket. I was happy to have it! Thursday, July 23, 2009. Gonna rise up, find my direction magnetically. Mitch and I arrived a few days ago after getting up at 3:00 am to make it to the airport on time. Needless to say, a bit tired.
