Morgan Mischief: April 2011

Thursday, April 28, 2011. Time in Titisee (Our 37th Anniversary). You might have gathered that we came home before DJ's days off were over! We decided we wanted to see it again- -GREEN! I loved all the green, but I have to say that in places the pine trees are such a dark green, they almost look black. That led to a discussion about why the black forest is called the black forest. Was it because of the dark green color or was it because the forest is so dense that it seems dark when you are in it? The mo...

Monday, February 21, 2011. Bringing in the New Year (well, almost). 65279;. The kid's table in the kitchen. The little cousins always have a good time together:. Livi bought party hats for the kids (both big and little):. The old people had a great time visiting, relaxing, and playin' games:. Unlike last year, we didn't do fireworks. And no, we didn't even make it to midnight, but all in all we had a greattime. Thanks to the Wallaces. Saturday, February 19, 2011. Enjoying the last week of 2010! They a...

Thursday, May 19, 2011. Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall.". Monday, May 16, 2011. A Little Shopping Extravaganza. So I've shared with you how Denise and I go visiting teaching together. Heidi and Gaby are really good friends, and we visit them together at the same time- -that's how they want it. I shared a picture of them on my "happy" post here. How fun is that? Cute shops. Nice things, expensive things. I did buy a new bracelet. A lot of the houses and buildings had sayings or names painted on them.

Saturday, July 16, 2011. Winebibbers We're Not - Our Tour of a Spanish Winery. DJ's co-workers are used to the fact that he doesn't drink, but you should have seen the looks on the faces of the general manager and his employees at the estate of Senorio De Otazu, a highly-acclaimed vinyard and winery, when we repeatedly and politely refused their generosity at both a wine tasting and at dinner! How could anyone not drink wine? They were mystified. Here's how it came down. Just steps up from this huge cave...

Morgan Mischief: September 2012

Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Sorry the photos are a little choppy and skewed. The square was quite small, the buildings quite large and beautiful, and empty spaces not so empty but full of people. It was hard to get in good places to get a shot off and not be in someone's way! Not to mention the fact that our guide was ALWAYS in a hurry. Not so sure she was lovin' her job. Across the way was the town hall:. Not too far away is St John's Church. This one is on top of the Dom Church. Right behind St John...

Thursday, September 30, 2010. Over the River and Through The Woods. Almost makes me not want to visit there again, but Salzburg and Vienna are still calling my name. Look right above the first floor windows and door and notice the hand painted mural running under the shingles! Here's a close-up, and look below at the cute lace trim in the windows and the painted shutters. Isn't it every thing Germany is supposed to be? Then we walked inside and saw woodwork and painting like this corner cabinet:. I have ...

Tuesday, November 30, 2010. A Little Bit of Pre-Christmas Cheer. Anyway, it felt like the Christmas seasons I knew before moving to Houston! 65279;. There were Christmas trees all over town. 65279; . Most of the booths had lighting and/or greenery on them and were often decorated even more. Look at the backs of these:. 65279;. This is what the Germans called "SCHMUCK". It's my favorite German word so far! I don't know if jewelry will be in my vocabulary when I come back to the states. 65279;ʌ...

Wednesday, September 28, 2011. I have no clue what kind of plant/flower this is, but it was kind of random and kind of interesting. Our last stop of the day was at the Temppeliaukio Church or "Church in the Rock". This church is literally in a cavity blasted out of a large outcropping of granite. Picture #1 - The outline of a cross is all that adorns the outside of the church. Picture #2 - a podium or maybe even an alter. Picture #3 - The ceiling is made of a coil copper tubing- -13 miles of it. I snappe...

Saturday, October 30, 2010. Missing Halloween Tradition and Feeling Guilty. I loved Halloween when my kids were young- -except sometimes when we had costume issues and the jack-o-lantern thing (DJ was rarely home to help; hence, not a jack-o-lantern for each kid every year and some years there were pumpkins with marker faces! When we moved from Vernal to Bountiful in 1980, it was near the end of October. So what did I do? Liz's Hunter with his very own 2006 edition of the BOO BOOK. I would ship them in l...

Sunday, October 30, 2011. The Sites in St. Petersburg. There were lots of them. St Isaac's Cathedral (huge and gorgeous):. We stopped for lunch, quite tastey, which was served with vodka and champagne in the middle of the day! Yes, there was water as well. The extra treat was that we were entertained by instrumentalists, vocalists, and dancers all dressed in national costumes. It was a delightful presentation. They even got some of our fellow cruise members on stage (see pictures below). Here's where our...
