The Theology of the Tweak: January 2010
http://tweaktheology.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
The Theology of the Tweak. Every couple needs a hobby. This is ours. Sunday, January 24, 2010. Revealing the Unknown by the Known: NT. It was a fun conversation . . . and probably, now that I think about it, one of our long car trip conversations. Always the best. And to a book I read a year or so later, Kingdom Ethics. It helps to look at how Jesus frames the Sermon on the Mount. He starts with a nifty little poem describing ways of being, of living and thinking, that move one toward godliness. ...It's ...

The Theology of the Tweak: Introducing the Tweak
http://tweaktheology.blogspot.com/2009/07/introducing-tweak.html
The Theology of the Tweak. Every couple needs a hobby. This is ours. Tuesday, July 28, 2009. I first ran across the idea of "tweak" theology in NT Wright's Christian Origins series. I read them as a senior in college, and was captivated by Wright's description (I think in Jesus and the Victory of God. Then Micah took a class on Elijah/Elisha and on the book of Jeremiah. From those he took the idea that God is continually moving his people toward greater holiness, greater knowledge/understanding of hi...

Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes: What's in a name?
http://mrodor.blogspot.com/2009/08/whats-in-name.html
Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes. Thursday, August 6, 2009. What's in a name? So the blog is titled "Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes" because I misremembered the punchline to an old Dilbert comic. But "Forty Monkeys" just sounds so much easier on my ego than "Three.". I sorta want to steal the line since I think it is brilliant. And now that I know you originally stole it (and incorrectly), I may not feel so bad doing so. August 11, 2009 at 2:32 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Bible commands us.

Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes: March 2013
http://mrodor.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes. Friday, March 29, 2013. I work at a church. It's an incredible privilege to be able to give your best hours of the week to the Kingdom, and it's not a privilege I take lightly. But there's something that happens when your church is your job. it's easy to miss the point. It's so easy to get into "Work Mode." Who do I need to talk to? What responsibilities do I need to take care of? What am I doing after I finish this? How have they set up their greeters? View my complete profile.

Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes. Friday, June 28, 2013. The blog has been radio-silent for the past two months. I sent this note to some friends and thought it might be worth putting out in public. Hey friends. I've appreciated your prayers and encouragement over the past month. Despite our difficulties, I've never been so aware of God's care and protection. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes: September 2014
http://mrodor.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes. Monday, September 22, 2014. This past week was the anniversary of Rich Mullins' death, but I was too busy to write anything. I'll save the exact reasons I still love Rich's music for another post; here I just wanted to record two memories I have from his concerts. The first was from a show in the mid-90s. Rich talked more in his concerts than any musician I've ever seen. And he was fascinating. He was great at calibrating invitation and challenge. Rich just stood on the stage ...

Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes: October 2014
http://mrodor.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes. Tuesday, October 21, 2014. My friend Rachel wrote a powerful piece last week called “ I Would Fail Abraham’s Test. 8221; She refers to the mind-blowing story in Genesis 22 of God’s command to Abraham to sacrifice his son. If you’re not familiar with the story, you can read it here. I am not yet a mother, and still I know, deep in my gut, that I would sooner turn my back on everything I know to be true than sacrifice my child on the altar of religion. Maybe the real test. Doesn...

Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes: August 2013
http://mrodor.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Forty Monkeys, Ten Minutes. Friday, August 16, 2013. The Strategy of Satan. This entire post is a reaction to a brilliant post by one of my favorite authors. It's worth reading. Let me know if you want to push back or hear more about this: I could go on all week. Who would we invite? Pause there. New thought. What is the purpose of God in the world? Surely the best way to tell is to look at Jesus. What was Jesus' primary purpose? What overriding logic applied to all of his actions and words on earth?
