How to be human in the Middle Ages. Amazons and the possibilities of female power. November 28, 2016. I recently came across an organisation called the Liga de Mujeres Desplazadas. A Vindication of the Rights of Women. I do not wish [women] to have power over men but over themselves. The League of Displaced Women and its City of Women made me think instantly of the Amazons. The legend of the Amazons an all-female society of warrior women is all about female power in the face of adversity. The origins of ...

I want to hear the rest of Bob’s story, and not just because of the somewhat gruesome picture. People were using special hair gel 2,500 years ago? Amazing the information you can get about someone. Medieval Combat Group, Belfast.

Medieval Combat Group is a Historic European Martial Arts (HEMA) group based in Belfast, teaching sword techniques described in period manuscripts, aiming to recreate the fighting styles of the Medieval era. We train as martial artists, not as re-enactmentors, or as roleplay, and use modern safety equipment. The group currently focuses on the use of the German longsword (a two handed, double edged sword) and the messer (a short single edged sword used as both a tool and a weapon of self defense).
