Students shared from the 1548 surveys returned. What should we keep with the schedule? An overwhelming 92% want Chaparral to keep its off periods. Another 60% want to keep blocks at 4 periods per day. Additional answers included “the current bell schedule" (40%), and "homeroom 2 times a week" (41%).

The district has instituted complete financial transparency during my tenure. I pursued the idea of having the district's financial records searchable and available to every citizen, and it has become a reality. Most school districts in Colorado do not have this level of visibility and, in fact, measures to mandate this at the state level have been unsuccessful. DCSD is a leader in this area.

The Journey or the Destination? I need to find myself a cause to support this year. What with all the commotion over my husband losing his job, we didn't participate in the Plains and Pastures.
