Lost in the Heart of Somewhere: Zen and the Art of Home-Education (or why we do what we do and don't hate everyone else!)

Lost in the Heart of Somewhere. Friday, March 08, 2013. Zen and the Art of Home-Education (or why we do what we do and don't hate everyone else! There is a stereotype home-educating family from the United States that seems to also exist here in the UK - the creationist parents of socially maladjusted children afraid of contamination by “the world”. In actual fact most home educating families in the UK are not church-goers. My wife and I chose to home educate for many reasons (some of which I explain belo...

Lost in the Heart of Somewhere: Arrogance, Ignorance, Greed
http://lostintheheartofsomewhere.blogspot.com/2009/11/arrogance-ignorance-greed.html
Lost in the Heart of Somewhere. Saturday, November 14, 2009. Arrogance, Ignorance, Greed. Tonight my wife and I are looking forward to seeing Show of Hands. Playing here in Shrewsbury. Beforehand I am interviewing them for Everything Folk. The title track of their lates album is getting a lot of press attention and airplay, Arrogance, Ignorance, Greed (AIG) - a broadside at bankers and politicians with lines such as:. At every trough you stop to feed. With your arrogance, your ignorance and greed.

Lost in the Heart of Somewhere. Sunday, August 22, 2010. Bit of a boring post, but I thought you might be interested in my new business website for Matthews and Owen (the trading name for my consultancy). It was pretty simply done with iWeb and hosted on MobileMe: www.matthewsandowen.com. I am going to be running a blog on there looking at issues around publishing, media, films and communications (especially new and digital media). Please feel free to add it to your RSS reader (such as Google Reader.

because all my journals are collecting dust: April 2009
http://andrewmanion.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Because all my journals are collecting dust. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Today I said farewell to Intern Josh. His time is up - his wings are spreaded. Today I spent the afternoon running downtown with Mike Tatu. Helped us move it from the van into Mike's living room. I got lost on the way to Jay's house. I traveled in a wide looping circle over the Alaska, Lowell, and Caledonia borders. Twice. Scott and I ran errands with Jay. We drove with Mr. Kamphuis. To the air-port and saw Jay off to South Africa.

because all my journals are collecting dust: October 2011
http://andrewmanion.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Because all my journals are collecting dust. Saturday, October 8, 2011. As you can tell, I haven't written anything in a while. More on that later. In the mean time, here is a doodle I cooked up this afternoon. It's part of a scene in an idea for a play I hatched, also this afternoon. It's just an idea, but you never know what might come out of it. 8221; you should instead look in the mirror and ask yourself, “Why is he picking on me? Is that what you think you're doing now? because all my journals are collecting dust: My Funeral
http://andrewmanion.blogspot.com/2009/02/my-funeral.html
Because all my journals are collecting dust. Wednesday, February 11, 2009. New amendment in the ongoing plans to plan the disposal of my own body. Enough gasoline will be used to ensure the fires success, but no more. A live recording of Breathe Owl Breathe's "Playing Dead" will be played on speakers as the flames spread. The fire will take place in the field behind my parents house. A tree will be planted over my ashes. March 7, 2009 at 7:08 AM. Sometimes you scare me. April 5, 2009 at 6:48 PM.

because all my journals are collecting dust: "How to Tell A true War Story"
http://andrewmanion.blogspot.com/2009/01/how-to-tell-true-war-story.html
Because all my journals are collecting dust. Friday, January 30, 2009. How to Tell A true War Story". This post shares a title with a short story by Tim O'Brien I began reading the other day. The essay is nestled between other stories like it -ones about his tour of duty in Viet. Though each can stand as an independent work, major motifs carry throughout; namely watching his friends die suddenly and with seeming randomness. Yeah, that's more easy to come by. Real morals to our everyday fables? Changing M...

because all my journals are collecting dust: October 2008
http://andrewmanion.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Because all my journals are collecting dust. Saturday, October 18, 2008. A cough can rattle my chest -and it looks like it's going to get worse, for a week or two. Causing me to think of all those old romantics, torn apart by TB. Punctuation, or over doing it for emphases, makes me feel poetic at times. I've been writing lately, and loving it -but wish I was doing more of it. I am optimistic of my future, a warm blanket when I am alone at night. Working with children causes me to want them for my own.
