Tuesday, July 30, 2013. This summer I've been trying to mix in a little science and school work into our summer routine. So far we've experimented with salt water, cleaned pennies, and mixed baking soda and vinegar (as a part of making watercolor paints). Today we made Elephant Toothpaste. You can find a link to the tutorial here at Modern Parents Messy Kids. It is an easy experiment, made with ingredients we had on hand- yeast, dish soap, food coloring, and hydrogen peroxide. Thursday, September 12, 2013. We are hoping they teach pattern matching next. Sunday, September 8, 2013. For a perpetual student/teacher/slave to a school calendar, fall is kind of a somber time. No more carefree days, suddenly I know what a weekend is and it is way too short. why didn't they lobby for a three day weekend? Monday, January 21, 2013. The dentist ordered X Rays, his first. The dentist gave him a clean bill of health, though he did order a soft diet (an excuse for more oatmeal and yogurt meals). He lisps a little, but that should stop once the swelling goes down. There is a chance the teeth will brown due to bruising, but he shouldn't lose them. Sunday, November 10, 2013. I'm not sure where the time has gone. Once minute it is summer and the next thing you know we are starting that fast slide into the Christmas season. I just got a new phone and so I finally took all the photos off my old phone and loaded them onto my computer. Now I am nostalgic for fancy free summertime with ice cream, sprinklers, and warm sun. Saturday, August 31, 2013. We have been waiting. Counting down. Jon fills us girls in on stadium updates and every time we pass the screen on Montlake - the girls scream out, " Whose. The day finally came - I'm not kidding when I say I do not think Jon slept the night before. We went to a wedding Friday night and on the way home, I asked him what he thought of it (it was beautiful), but his response was, "I'm just too distracted about tomorrow to even think about that.". Sunday, October 20, 2013. We headed out to Jubilee Farms for our annual pumpkin patch trip. The farm stepped it up this year with a few more activities, the most exciting being face painting (for the girls). Tuesday, October 29, 2013. I was able to volunteer at Hayden's class Halloween party again this year - loved seeing all the kids in their costumes and chatting it up with the mamas. The kids were lead through stations of decorating goodie bags, filling those bags, doing a popcorn craft, marshmallow game, decorating cookies and eating them!
