Melody Valadez: Word Counts
http://www.melodyvaladez.com/p/word-counts.html
I Am An Authoress. The word count game is fun and infuriating to play. I gathered the following numbers from AR Book Finder. Which seems to be the only website giving word counts for books. You can go there to find age and reading levels for the books. I use all these numbers to give me an idea of where my book fits in, or what goals I need to set for the book depending on what genre I'm writing in. (Feel free to suggest books for the list! Most of these are MG/YA. 47510 - STORMBREAKER (Anthony Horowitz).

Now Jake is missing, maybe even kidnapped, and Jenn's last hope is a risky deal with the feds: if they'll help her find her brother, she'll turn herself in. But their so-called help comes in the form of 21-year-old Clayton Ford—brother of the guy she killed. Time is running out. READ THE E-BOOK ON KINDLE. GET THE PAPERBACK FROM AMAZON.

I Am An Authoress. If I have learned one thing from blogging, it is never to post about the frailty of excuses. At least, not if you think you'll ever miss a posting day. It was Spring Break. Honestly, I've been a bit at a loss as to what to post. I'm practically never writing any more. On occasion, I reach day's end and realize I haven't daydreamed at all. {Daydreaming is very important to writing books.}. Writing is a rush. Voluntarily setting it aside sounded like torture. Am I the same? ABSOLUTELY NO...
Melody Valadez: Oversimplifying This
http://www.melodyvaladez.com/2013/07/oversimplifying-this.html
I Am An Authoress. Maybe in the summer I only post once a month. Kidding. I know that's what it looks like. But it's.not. At least I have news today. I'm going to self-e-publish. {Well, now it's official. It's on the blog.}. The goal is that Those Who Trespass. Am I oversimplifying this? I feel like I'm oversimplifying this. Maybe it is one of those moments where if you really knew how much agony you were going to endure, you'd never start. Oh, you haven't read that yet? To send my way! My name is Melody...

Teen In The Kitchen: November 2009

Teen In The Kitchen. Editing every recipe to fit the family.and never making the same thing twice. Welcome to my life. Wednesday, November 11, 2009. One hour, 350F. I mean, how good is that? Seriously, cooking life can't get any better. Oh, wait, it can; my grand total of dishes dirty for meatloaf this evening was a whopping SIX! Now if that's not laudable, I don't know what is. This is my mother's meatloaf recipe, edited by none other than. So, dump the following in a mixing bowl:. 1 1/3 c oats. Blog, i...

Teen In The Kitchen. Editing every recipe to fit the family.and never making the same thing twice. Welcome to my life. Tuesday, November 3, 2009. OK, so it's coleslaw. But it's. Coleslaw, and I take ownership of my stuff. It follows absolutely no recipe ever invented by man (to my knowledge), but it's a great way to get rid of that head of cabbage. Shred the following into a refridgerable container:. 1/2 c Vidalia Onion Dressing (to taste). Posted by Melody Valadez. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

It was originally called pizza soup from a fellow food blogger Stephanie over at A Year of Slow Cooking. Who got it from a blogger named Mallory. We bloggers are busy, eh? Teen In The Kitchen. Editing every recipe to fit the family.and never making the same thing twice. Welcome to my life. Saturday, November 7, 2009. This recipe, from Stephanie over at the Crockpot 365. Blog, is originally designed for the crockpot (you know, the life-saver in your cabinet). I didn't have enough time for a crockpot today, so I threw all the ingredients in a pot. Dump the following in a pan or crockpot:. 1-2 c chicken broth. 2 c cooked chicken. 1 yellow onion, diced. 1 c frozen corn.
Teen In The Kitchen: whoever said spaghetti was easy was dead wrong
http://teeninthekitchen.blogspot.com/2009/10/whoever-said-spaghetti-was-easy-was.html
Teen In The Kitchen. Editing every recipe to fit the family.and never making the same thing twice. Welcome to my life. Thursday, October 15, 2009. Whoever said spaghetti was easy was dead wrong. Let me tell you how we usually do spaghetti. First, I don't think I've ever seen Mom use a recipe in my life. Second, we usually throw in two pounds of raw hamburger and follow the directions on the back of the spaghetti-sauce-seasoning-in-a-pouch per pound once the meat is browned. Makes sense right? Sigh* So we...

Whisper Above the Thunder: Snippets of Story--August
http://whisperabovethethunder.blogspot.com/2012/08/snippets-of-story-august.html
Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Snippets of Story- August. As you read this, I am midway through my first week of classes at Patrick Henry College, and loving every moment of it. (When I'm not fighting homesickness, that is! Ah, a fact of life.). He stopped and let the words rip from his heart, their meaning beyond any description—a question, a demand, an accusation, a plea for strength. He sank down to his knees, fingers anchored in his ragged hair. He hated it, in that moment. Hated his own humanity.". Theyr...

Whisper Above the Thunder: April 2012
http://whisperabovethethunder.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 19, 2012. April's Snippets of Stories. So, amidst the busy planning of graduation, a visit to my college, and acting in/directing a play, I have not found much time to do any serious writing. But it was February when I last entered Katie's Snippets of Story, so I present to you my rather meager offering. I do hope you enjoy! Eye of the Beholder. Stay with me. Always. I could not bear this without you.'. For a promise of eternity, made by human lips, must be broken.". Links to this post.

Whisper Above the Thunder: An Unknown Word
http://whisperabovethethunder.blogspot.com/2012/08/an-unknown-word.html
Thursday, August 9, 2012. You know what the English language needs? A word for the feeling you get when you realize that you wish you had known your last time doing something or having something or seeing someone was the last time, because if you knew, you would have savored it more. It's like nostalgia, but at the same time, sharper and not as gentle and warm. It's an odd sense of regret, but usually tinged with sweetness. But perhaps it's better that there is no word for it. I really identify with this!

I Am An Authoress. Well, I'm Back. Well, I'm back. I'm graduated now. I have a degree in physics, a piece of paper that says people should think I'm smart. {Not that I am smart, but that they should think so.}. As noted in December. I still haven't given up on writing. Yes, I find myself in a weird state. I haven't written fiction in months, and the thought of it is daunting. I don't want to return to this long-lost friend and find our conversation stilted and awkward. If I keep myself bu...For now, for ...
