Friday, November 19, 2010. This blog seems to have become my bird journal, so here's the latest on my backyard birdwatching. O) Up to now the bluebirds have not offered to seek shelter in it during the winter, so I didn't think they would mind if we closed it up til spring. Anyway, it was nice to see him today, I hope he visits again. I miss the blues during the winter, even though the winter birds are fun to watch, too. However Papa was alone this time.maybe Mama and little friend migrated.

Monday, October 31, 2011. Here's what we're doing with the wood we're cutting in the backyard! Well actually not the new wood. A sweet neighbor who came and cut up the larges trees that had been pulled out of the ground, also brought us a load of seasoned firewood to burn in our new wood stove. Thursday, October 27, 2011. Friday, August 09, 2013. Otherwise, we still enjoy our bluebirds although I was very concerned about the nestlings during the horridly hot weather we had a few weeks ago. They did survive and apparently fledged successfully although I wasn't able to be here to see them go. We haven't had any new nest builders since then, but it's getting pretty late for that anyway. She has brought in long twigs and other strange materials, some of which she can't even get into the house. She could hardly get into the house herself on one occasion this morning, there was so much junk poking out the door. I'm so unhappy about this bird!
